Very clean. Had a lot snow the shovels really help.when we got there the tv wouldn't work . Found a switch in the back of tv switched it we ok .that was the only glitch .roads got plowed two three times so we got out with no problem. I would recommend highly.
Perfect location, the house was very clean and fit our family of 8 comfortably!
Large house perfect for big groups with all the basics. Located in a very quiet neighborhood with access to trails. Could use a deep cleaning and some updating.
We apologize if cleanliness was lacking. A deep clean will be performed after the busy season when we have the time to do one properly. Thank you!

Overall it is a great fit for our needs, just a few issues this year that weren’t an issue previous years. The dryer wasn’t working properly and the tv remote was missing. The fold up couch bed was folded up with dirty sheets and a towel accidentally but everything else was clean and tidy. The downstairs toilet runs so a jiggle of the handle was necessary to get it to stop. Overall we enjoyed our time there, just a couple of little things need to be addressed before the next guests arrive. Thank you!
We are sorry to see there were some drawbacks to this guest's visit this year. The dryer is currently out of commission, and the TV still works without the remote. The toilet has been fixed, and we have followed-up with housekeeping about the fold out bed. We apologize for any inconveniences this guest experienced. Thank you!
Great location for water sports and shopping! And the photos do not lie!! Fully stocked, clean, and roomy!! Had a little trouble with internet, but local contact was ready and available to see to it. The kids loved the back room to play games and the adults thoroughly enjoyed the comfort of the great room. We couldn't use the built in outdoor grill, as it required our own wood - wood fires are discouraged... but we managed with the tiny portable grill. Towels are plentiful as are linens for beds. Loved the supplied toiletries, too - something we didn't expect!! We will definitely return!!
We would definitely stay there again. The house is large enough to accommodate all of us. 3 families stayed there. Plenty of space outside for the kids to enjoy the snow. Just a few things as to not exceed your expectations. Although the house is warm a cozy it could use some updating. Old furniture. Had to cover the sofa with a blanket when I sat in it. That’s just me though. TV is small. The appliances need updating and replacing. It’s very well stocked. More so then the last place we rented. We would stay there again.
We stayed here for the ski championships at Squaw . This house is cozy and comfortable. There is lots of space for relaxing and multiple areas to read and play games. It was wonderful that our dogs could come too! The kitchen is well-equipped and the dining table is very long and accommodates a lot of people. The location is nice, it’s up in a nice quiet neighborhood with plenty of good places to walk your dog. And it’s located close to town so you’re near some good restaurants and shops. We had a great time and will definitely stay here again
Clean, well equipped and comfortable place. Easy checkin, comfy beds and linen and every thing you need. Enjoyed our stay. Will return someday.
the property was fabulous!
The property was amazing! Great property. We were a total of 10 people staying. From the outside, the property looks small, however when you come in, the whole house is very open. The rooms very spacious and comfortable! Even the sofa bed! I would say that the downside of the property (at least on our stay) was the smoke stench! Seemed as if people before us (or really who knows who) had smoked. So the smoked had penetrated the sofas, linens, etc! But after airing the house for the first hour, everything went smoothly! Also, the heater works really really slow! Doesn't really warm the house up that well! However, my guests and I had a blast! The house is amazingly charming. Very pretty! Picturesque!

Our family has gotten so big now with grown children and their families that we cannot have us altogether in our own little cabin nearby. So we have repeatedly rented the Chalet Hildebrandt for a vacation annex. We shared meals up on the beautiful deck. The kitchen is super for preparing big meals. The bedrooms are comfortable and the added extra living room is good for the bigger kids. Thank you to Vacasa and the owners of the place for making it available to us every year.
I felt very at home in this cabin...extremely clean carpets and house..The road can be dangerous when there is ice so be careful...I would definitely stay here again.
House was clean and well maintained. Although there was recent snowfall, the walkway and driveway had been cleared and shoveled. Heater worked well. Would suggest providing coffee and creamer. Overall nice stay!
Had a wonderful time. House has everything you need to make your stay comfortable, very clean. Definitely would rent it again.
Very unhappy. Not sure how people gave it such great reviews. Felt dirty and was dirty. Deck not swept - probably all season. Not well equipped with amenities. You need to bring your own napkins, paper towels, sponge, laundry detergent, etc.
Awesome time would definitely go back and stay at the Chalet Hildebrand. Vacasa has done me right!
this place is clean and spacious. it's near a trail head which we used often. You cannot see the lake from this property.
My kids loved the place and they had a lot of fun. They enjoyed the books and games. The house was neat and clean
We had a great time while staying at this property, but lots of little things should be taken care of before renting out again.
We had a great time, loved the fireplace, cozy. Made for a great vacation.
We had a wonderful time. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes. Very comfortable for a larger group.

To begin, I am insatiably critical by nature therefore I was nominated to find a cabin in Tahoe for our upcoming ski trip. After days pouring over every morsel of info. Two themes emerged, don’t trust the pictures, their old and no guarantee your cabin will be cleaned. So, we all lowered our expectations.
LOCATION: Those arriving late & it’s snowing, finding the cabin is a bit tricky. The directions they give are nearly impossible when it’s snowing. GOOGLE MAPS was useless as it did not find the street.
NOTE: GooG inputted it incorrectly: In Goog it is: —Muletail Dr.— Carnelian Bay .
Then upon arriving it was a Supercalifragilistic…moment. All of us were relishing in the spectacular surprise while sitting by the fire we started to warm up. The cabin far exceeded our expectations & everyone was elated.
The cabin radiates perfectly the charm surrounding Lake Tahoe. The owners took care to create a warm inviting ambiance in every detail of their home. You enter from the back into a mud room. There you put your skis, coats etc and “You must Take Off Your Shoes There” the sign says. The carpet is a beautiful cream beige and they would like to keep it looking like new.
The cabin has gorgeous pine walls throughout tastefully installed and gleams as if they were new. The off white carpet is throughout the entire home except Kit & Baths. Picturesque Windows everywhere you look brings the outside in. It’s easy to keep an eye on the kids & little traffic on the road. The furniture throughout the home all seemed almost new to us except one bed. It is tastefully chosen to appoint the ambiance in this smart country charmer. Yes - clean, clean, clean & Spotless!!
The kitchen accommodates a large crowd and still plenty of room to cook at the same time. There is an overabundance of cooking Utensils. Anything you can imagine, they have it, including an electric hot water kettle for my tea. The trick is finding where it goes when you leave, there is so much. The delightful pine cabinetry is perfect and adds to the charm of this beautiful country home. The kitchen is huge and sports a Butcher Block Island as the chopping board.
They have two family rooms, each with massive picturesque fireplace. One we used for quiet time (work) while the other for family games & TV. The main FmlyRm has a 50” flat Screen TV with DVD. The entire house has WiFi which worked perfectly. (computer nerds.) The TV channels are Basic and they have only a few DVD’s so bring your own for snowed in days.
Two Bedrooms downstairs and 1 bathroom. The master bedroom & a small room on this floor. Although in the 2nd FmlyRm on 1st floor also there is a futon that folds out. The master bed room proved to be perfect for us. It was so quiet I thought I could hear the snow fall and much cooler than the others which is perfect for us. The bed “unbelievably comfortable” with an assortment of nicely cleaned tasteful comforters to snuggle in. All the rooms had superb antique restored furniture, on the expensive side. It was no issue using the shared bath for us.
The other bedroom is across from the bathroom. That bed is a bit noisy & not super comfy though all the comforters are. That room is perfect for a younger guy who travels light & gets up and goes. Guys don’t need much. It is directly across from the 1st Floor bath.
They have a beautiful Log stairway that takes you to the second floor. There are two bedrooms and one bath upstairs. All nicely decorated with comfy linens. One room has a Queen bed which is very comfy and a nice window to see out. The other room is huge and with an abundance of beds and a big picture window. There is 1 set of bunk beds, a single bed and a Queen bed all in the same room with plenty of extra room to spare.
The location is exceptional with the lot so large there was plenty of clean fresh snow for snowball fights, snowmen and building a little ramp for the kids sled. Other houses did not seem to have much land around them as we did.
Some Information that may help you:
Bring: Bar Soap, Toilet Paper, Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair Dryer, Shower Cap
Kitchen: Paper Towels, small dishwasher detergent, small Dawn, Soap to wash clothes, Plastic Wrap, Aluminum foil, or Parchment paper for the bakers. Maybe some rags for cleaning.
NOTE: There maybe some of the above items in the home however if it runs out the next person usually adds to it. Several of above items we could find so we purchased it and left it there.
Fireplace: Your own wood & Matches: There is none there for you to start.
If this helps: Two boxes of Duraflame and 4 boxes of wood. Looked around and Orchard has the best deal on wood. $15 a box of wood and it was huge. So much so Orchard had to load them. Not like those bundles at the supermarket. The wood is nicely seasoned!! So 5 adults & 2 Tweens it lasted 4 full days and had some left.
They do have the driveway cleared once a day when snowing. So if you are parked there they only clean to the cars. Also, if during the snowing season you will need a 4 wheel drive to get to the houses. Not certain about just keeping chains on.
The weather was amazing during our stay, that is if you love snow. Some challenges on our part were that we are not accustomed on snowy conditions (driving, clearing driveways, etc), so that made our adventure a bit more entertaining. When driving to the cabin make sure to follow the directions from Tahoe City, provided by Vacasa, especially the last parts where they tell you how to get to the cabin. We missed our turned (the street signs are white and it was snowing) and had an unpleasant experience sliding down the hill, as the car would not go up. Everyone was OK, including the car, and we met some very friendly neighbors who pointed us back to the correct way. When we got to the cabin, had to shovel our way to the house and to make a driv way for the cars. We were so happy that we got their while it was still light out. (This is not a negative review, just something to be aware of especially if traveling with children.) The snow was amazing, but also is a lot of work. The cabin itself was great. Heating worked perfectly, it was fixed since last review (someone else). Plenty of towels, blankets, games, books. TV worked, and so did the internet. The kitchen was very nice, plenty of dishes, utensils, cups and different glassware. The only thing they had a limited number of good pots. One was very thin, which made it a bit difficult to cook/heat things evenly. Otherwise a fully stocked kitchen. It was great having a washer and dryer available since the kids got to play in the snow several time and we had the chance to dry their snow clothes. The property is on a very big lot, plenty of space for snowman building, snow fights, and with the amount of snow we had, we even build a small hill to have the small kids sled on (sleds where available in the house). We had a great time, very relaxing. The neighborhood is also very nice to walk around in. If traveling in the winter/snow, highly recommend coming early and being prepared to shovel (shovels provided). But I think that makes the experience even more authentic :). Cannot wait to go back :).
Thank you for sharing your review. The owners do provide driveway plowing service which occurs reliably whenever there is snow accumulation. You are correct that the pathway from the driveway to the deck (about 15 ft) is not shoveled. We're glad to hear that you embraced the mountain experience!
Our issue with Chalet Hildebrand was very simple......no working furnace. When we arrived at the house on 11/16, at 4:00 p.m. temps outside were in the 40's so we immediately turned up the furnace to warm up the house and started a fire with the small amount of firewood we purchased. After two hours, the house wasn't any warmer then when we arrived and noticed that the vents were blowing cold air through them.
The fireplace could only keep the living room area warm......and I use the word warm because the temp was still well below a reasonable living temperature. With the furnace blowing cold air and the fireplace going at full speed, we still had to wear layers, blankets and even had to keep our shoes on because the floors were freezing on our feet.
I called the number provided to us and the local property management manager contacted us (Leslie). When I told her the issue she told me that this was not the first time someone had experienced this problem. The owners had been told there was a problem with the furnace. Apparently they didn't think it was important enough to get it fixed? Especially when renting it out in the winter months??? Leslie advised us to turn off the furnace and keep the fireplace going.
At that point we were offered 2 choices: move to a new place that night or have some firewood brought to us for the night and wait for a repairman to come the next day to check out the issue. We chose to stay the night because by that time it was well past 6:00, dinner was being made, it was dark outside and the roads in that area were already pretty slick. Not knowing the area at all, we thought it best to stay the night for our own safety driving on those icy back roads. So, Leslie brought us 5 boxes of firewood to get us through that first night. My poor brother-in-law was on fireplace duty and kept the fireplace stoked all night. We went through all 5 boxes. We also had the 2 space heaters running in 2 of the bedrooms that night.
I contacted Vacasa in the morning (11/17) and told them it was just unacceptable and that we either needed to have someone come out to check to see if the furnace could be fixed or move us. They sent out a 'tech'. After the initial contact with us to tell us who he was, he went out checked the furnace and then just left. He never told us what he found. Mike (in the Portland office) called us about 1/2 hour later and said the tech couldn't fix the furnace and would we like to move. I said yes because we didn't come to Tahoe to freeze while staying in a cabin/house. We needed to be warm.
Mike had suggested another property located directly on North Lake Blvd (Shaffers Tahoe House). Not an ideal place compared to being in the woods at Chalet Hildebrand, but we didn't have much choice. We packed everything up and moved.
This could have all been easily avoided by just not renting this property out to anyone until the furnace was repaired. We were told it was an old furnace and parts would more than likely not even be available.....so someone knew this wasn't just a one time incident. The other odd thing was when we moved to the new property, the cleaning lady was still there finishing up and she even mentioned she knew the furnace in Chalet Hildebrand was an issue......okay so why did all these people know it was an issue but the house was still rented out?!???
Chalet Hildebrand was a great house, but not having a working furnace just didn't cut it for us.
We appreciate you taking the time to share a review with us and want to sincerely apologize that you spent your first night so cold. The owner had the furnace repaired prior to your arrival and was not aware that the issue had reoccurred. They have replaced the entire furnace to ensure that this issue does not reoccur for any future tenants. We are glad to see that you enjoyed the home otherwise and hope you were still able to enjoy the beautiful Tahoe area!
We drove to Sand Harbor - rented some paddle boards and a kayak. We had a wonderful day paddling around on Lake Tahoe shoreline. We ate at Jason's and Gar restaurants ... Oh and the post office for breakfast. Would love to explore Tahoe City next time. The Cabin has a lot to offer! Beautiful woods, porch with seating, living room and den for family/friend gathering.

Simply look forward to staying at the same place next September.
We had a wonderful time at the Hildebrandt Chalet. The cabin is beautiful inside, full of knotty pine! The kitchen is very well stocked with just about every pot, bowl, or dish you would need. The furniture is very comfortable. The beds were fine...some of us thought they were a bit hard and others thought they were comfortable so it depends on what you like. We had lots of fun playing games on the large kitchen table. There's a beautiful view out every window. We had a great time here and loved the cabin!!
