Wonderful location up on the cliffs and the ocean view and breezes are spectacular. Loved the fireplace and family room. Beds and accomodations were super comfortable.
We loved the view, the check-in process. The house was clean, nice and comfortable beds.
The house is in the perfect location - right on the sea with fabulous views and sunsets - the pelicans fly across all day and we saw a pod of dolphins the first evening.
The BBQ works well and the large sitting room is good.
The kitchen is very dated and lacks work space and there is no kettle. The bathrooms could also do with an update, but you forgive these shortcomings because of the location.
There is a good supermarket 5 mins away and several cafes.
La Jolla is lovely and only a 10 - 15 minute drive away.
There are plenty of shops and restaurants and in one cove there is
a small beach full of seals and sea lions that come up close.
We had a fantastic few days.
House was in great location, walking distance to beach, restaurants, park, groceries etc. Lovely view of ocean and coastline. Surfers right out front everyday. House itself was clean and well stocked. Only downfalls are it's a little dated and the bed in master bedroom has seen better days. Would definitely recommend for large groups, house was very spacious.
This was a very large, clean, and comfortable home set on the bluffs with an amazing ocean view. Pelicans and other sea birds zip by all day long and the sunsets are amazing. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to a nice beach access for beach walking or swimming. The furnishings are dated but comfortable. The kitchen is not modern, but the appliances are newer, and it is well-equipped. We loved eating on the patio and watching the sunset, and sitting by the gas fireplace in the evening. The house is about an 12 minute drive to La Jolla Village shops and restaurants. We took Lyft so we didn't have to deal with parking.
Such a comfortable home being right on the ocean & so close to shopping, restaurants, great walks. House manager was lovely to deal with.
The house was great. Clean, and roomy, plenty of towels. I have stayed at Airbnb and VRSO’s that did not have enough towels, and had no wash cloths. This house had plenty of everything. A little outdated style-wise, but I actually loved that about it. Kind of retro! Nice roomy kitchen, plenty of amenities.
The house is comfortable and very clean.
Trendy TV in every room.
You can't beat the view from this home! It's set in a very nice subdivision and has a great driveway. The home is spacious and very comfortable. The location is fabulous, only a few miles from Mission Bay. The kitchen and bathrooms are in need of updating, but very functional. The master bed wasn't very comfortable for us and is actually 2 twin mattresses rather than a king sized mattress. The pillows are all very, very soft so not great for someone with neck and back issues, but we made do. I would not hesitate to book this home again, but would love to see some updated, comfortable mattresses and pillows.
A group of women friends enjoyed a weekend at this comfortable house. The view of the ocean is great.
We loved our stay at the Pelican House. Easy beach access and the view was breathtaking.
We would love to stay there again.
The house us really nice with a great view and perfect location but bathrooms and kitchen need some maintenance. Lots of hunts also.
This oceanfront home is the best vacation home our family has ever stayed in. The house may be old in some parts (like the kitchen drawers and cabinets), but nonetheless, the house is gracefully beautiful and very clean, with comfortable beds and everything we needed. The best part of the house, however, would have to be the patio in the back which has an outdoor grill, a table and chairs, and a countertop and outlet for cooking. We brought our portable stove and grill, set them on the countertop and mainly ate outside on the patio during our stay. Of course, nothing can beat the stunning oceanview below us (since we are on a cliff), especially during a sunset. If we could add one thing to the patio though, it would be a jacuzzi since there is a big empty space for it and we would've enjoyed it while looking at the ocean. The neighborhood is very quiet excluding the sound of the crashing waves (but we loved listening to the ocean and the birds flying over). We thought that the sound of the waves might keep us up at night, but we barely heard anything surprisingly. Overall, this house was such a peaceful getaway and we definitely want to come back again in the future.
I loved the view and location. The only thing that would’ve made this better would have been more fans for the rooms in humid hot days. One of the rooms was very stuffy and hot with only one little window. Other than that it was a great stay.
Our family really enjoyed this water front home. The view was amazing.
Wonderful location. Spacious. Fit 7 comfortably.
the view was amazing! If anyone is looking at it with small children they need to carefully watch them because of the patio and the cliff on the other side of the gate. Other than that the house very clean. Nicely stocked with all cooking essentials. The house was a little outdated as far as interior but it was very comfortable. Pelican House was really easy to get to an there was plenty of shopping and restaurants within a couple miles. If your looking for a view this is it! We will be back
Wonderful authentic atmosphere. The patio with ocean view, table and BBQ is great from breakfast to evening.
Very nice bedrooms and lost of space for everybody (we were 2 families of 4). Great kitchen with a lot of equipment, perfect for cooking the fresh local fish bought at El Pescador in downtown La Jolla.
A quaint place. Would definitely return.
8 of us stayed here 2 nights and had an amazing time! The house is a bit dated, but had everything we needed so we did not mind at all. The view from the back porch is magnificent. Waking up to the sounds of the waves and the fresh air was one of my favorite parts of the weekend. In the mornings I'd sit on the porch with my coffee and was able to see paddle boarders and surfers nearby! Definitely recommend staying at this home.
A nice quiet, roomy house (4 bedrooms), in a great location overlooking the Pacific ocean.
The pictures do not do it justice. This house is located on a fantastic street with the most incredible deck overlooking the ocean. It is only 2 houses down from a small park and a few blocks from access to the beach. Would definitely stay here again!
This house has amazing views of the ocean. You are so close, but yet so far away (if you wanted to touch the water). The house is on a cliff (that has no access down to the beach). It was great hearing the roar of the ocean and watching the surfers. There is an access point that you can walk to. The house itself could use some updating.
My husband and I rented this house with his family and it was perfect for our week-long vacation! The view is spectacular as the ocean is right off the balcony. We enjoyed watching the surfers in the morning and the sunsets at night. The house is a little dated, but very well kept with nice furnishings. It was my in-laws first time staying in a vacation home and they absolutely loved it. We were very close to dining/grocery stores in La Jolla as well as San Diego. The neighborhood was very friendly with lots of people out walking their dogs and parking their cars to surf at the beach. We can't wait to visit again!
It's a very dated house, patio furniture was lacking, kitchen is very old. The bedrooms are decorated nicely. The very best part of this house is that it is ON the ocean and the master bedroom faces the ocean - great sleeping.
The house is in a nice area. You will have to drive to the beach, nothing close enough to walk to. The house is like walking into a time capsule. All fixtures, sinks and bath/shower are old. Couldn't really tell if the thermostat was even connected to anything, but it didn't matter as the breeze coming off the ocean kept the house cool enough. It was clean. If you are a minimalist this house works fine.
There were seven of us. The house handled that number easily. House was clean and the service excellent. A very nice vacation home that lived up to its billing on the VACASA site.
While visiting our daughter in LA, we wanted to spend a few days at the Ocean near San Diego. This house was perfect - Ocean Front, clean, good sized, a short drive to San Diego. This was our first experience renting a house on-line, and it was very positive. We'll definitely do it again.
Great spot--right on the water!
Short stay in La Jolla for a wedding. Really wish we could have stayed longer to really enjoy the house! Loved waking up to the sound of ocean waves ever morning. Very cozy home! Highly recommended!!
In a quiet neighborhood overlooking the ocean - without direct access to the beach.
Comfortable with plenty of shops, restaurants nearby.
This was a very nice house to stay in. It was very convenient to the beach, shopping, dining and very accomodating for 4 couples. We just loved it! The view of the ocean was incredible! Thank you!!
The home is older but in a great location and the view from the patio is worth every penny!
Suited our needs as 6 adults very well. 4 bedrooms include a master with bath; a room with two twins and a room with another king both near a bathroom, then the 4th bedroom with the queen is set on the other side of the house, but shares the bath with the other two bedrooms, so the person in the queen needs to trek a bit to use the bathroom. It was spacious and open overall with high ceilings. The house is "older" and a little tired in the sense that it could use some updating; kitchen is pretty basic and we did not do a lot of meal prep in it; showers and towels were fine; basically pretty clean for an older house. The house is perched on a bluff quite high up from the rocks below. Families with small children might think twice about this set up. We were very satisfied with our stay of 4 nights.
Helpful management - had the incorrect code provided at first and just one quick call remedied that problem. The view is amazing and the house is beautifully situated. Although the house is older, it is extremely comfortable and very clean. Our entire family loved it. Thank you!
It was realy clean and peaceful.
Beds and hot water were great! View CANNOT be beat. The ocean was a joy to see and hear throughout each moment of our stay.
My family and I spent my birthday weekend at the Pelican. You really can't be the location or the view. We got some amazing photos of the ocean and had a great time. My only comment for improvement would be better mattresses. I have a vacation rental on Orcas Island and quality beds are an important part of the experience. It's the difference between getting sleep or no sleep.
Lovely spot. Had a great time.
we stayed here for a mini-family reunion. The ocean view in the back porch is fantastic. The house is old and the kitchen is outdated; make it somewhat difficult to cook a meal inside. Overall it was a relaxing pleasant experience in a quiet neighborhood.
There 3 couples and one single in our group. We all had rooms but everyone but my husband and myself had to share a bathroom. We needed another bathroom. The location was well worth it though. Older home but wonderful ocean view.
Overall...our stay was great...but, update the main living spaces.
Right on the cliffs(?) great way to start and end each day.
The house had everything we needed. Grocery store close by. @0 minutes to Zoo and Balbo Partk
Loved the view. Very nice home with a lot of room!
If you want to relax and a view of a lifetime in a quiet neighborhood (which was important to us) then this property is it. Its also close to everything which was a great plus.
This house was amazing! We couldn't stop staring out the back door and ate almost every meal outside to see the beautiful ocean. The house provided so many kitchen supplies and we just stocked the fridge with items from a local Von's. We stayed in most of the weekend and could not get enough of the view. Wish we could stayed longer.
This was a very great experience for my family and I. The home is located on a cliff overlooking the sea. The most beautiful sunsets and view all day. Very homey and clean.
We enjoyed our stay at the Pelican House. The house looked like the pictures on the website so there were no surprises. When we came in, the house felt and smelled clean. However, due to their wood floor polish, the oil stuck to our feet and made it feel greasy. The rooms were prepared nicely with plenty of towels for our stay. The bicycles, sand toys, and body boards are very convenient to have around in case we wanted to use them.
We enjoyed the location very much. Stepping right out to the patio, you will see the beautiful ocean. On one day, we saw several groups of surfers trying to ride the waves. There is also a small park that you can walk over in just a few minutes.
The only thing that was negative was the maintenance crew coming before the check out time to start cleaning and working on the front lawn. Our checkout time was 11am and the workers came at 10am. One was in the back with a loud leaf blower and two others were in the front having loud conversation by the front door. My friend had to close the door because they were speaking so loudly. I would suggest the maintenance crew come after 11am so that the guests can enjoy the remaining time they paid for.
Great location, exceeded expectations. Highlight is the Ocean View, simply incredible.
Loved our time here. Great view, has everything you need, and great location! Will return.
Truly a beautiful home away from home with awesome views of the ocean! It's so gorgeous that one of the days, we just stayed at the home and hung out in the patio or inside, enjoying every moment of the view!
Our family of 5 stayed here for 5 days and we were extremely pleased with how clean the house is. While, it is not updated with new appliances, etc, everything worked well. We loved eating breakfast and dinner on the patio while watching the waves and surfers. The house is situated in in a quiet residential neighborhood, which (in my opinion) is great for those of us who wanted a low-key vacation. Would highly recommend this place!
Large clean house and yard with a great patio and views. Close to La Jolla and easy to access San Diego
This house is gorgeous, exactly as advertised.
