The location and view were amazing. Very homey feeling.

We recently stayed at the Escape to Neptune rental in La Jolla, and it was hands-down one of the best vacation experiences I’ve had in Southern California. The location is unbeatable—right across from Windansea Beach—so we were literally steps from the ocean every morning and evening. Watching the sunset from the balcony with a glass of wine became a nightly ritual, and the view never got old. The condo itself is incredibly clean, modern, and spacious. The three bedrooms were well-appointed, and each bathroom felt like a mini spa—especially the master suite. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few meals in, although with so many great restaurants nearby, we didn't do much cooking. Still, it was nice to have the option. One thing that really stood out was how peaceful the area is. Even though you’re close to the heart of La Jolla, it feels tucked away and private. The gated community added an extra sense of security, and parking was easy, which can be rare near the beach. If you're looking for a high-end but relaxed place to unwind, this rental checks all the boxes. We’ll definitely be back.

You might not believe us when we say that San Diego County is California’s best-kept vacation secret. Sure, it’s home to San Diego, the Golden State’s second most-populous city. But ask any local: San Diego County has way more to offer than Comic-Con, beaches, and theme parks.

Where to book a house or condo rental in San Diego County

Choosing between San Diego County vacation rentals can be tough. We recommend picking accommodations convenient for your next adventure. Trying your hand at surfing? Stick closer to the beach by booking a Vacasa vacation home in Oceanside, Encinitas, La Jolla, or Carlsbad. Looking for great hiking? Stay in eastern San Diego, or book in an inland city like Vista. Want to do it all? With an extensive highway system, San Diego County’s best attractions are easily accessible, so it’s all right if what you’re after isn’t in your backyard.
