Sunny townhouse w/ ocean view, private W/D, central AC, and pool access

Build a beautiful resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bikes, because Buxton’s unique shops, restaurants, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD vehicle - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers). This is an excellent two-bedroom condo with one-and-a-half baths. The interior has been professionally-decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape.

Sitting in the dining room or living room or back screened-in porch - you can daydream as you watch the rotating light on the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. Shift your view and you can catch the horizon hovering over the Atlantic water. What a wonderful location! An exceptionally clean house too. Best vacation we’ve had in years renting Hatteras houses.

Location was great for getting to the beach to fish. The area was very quiet except for the wonderful sound of the ocean and the lighthouse was no bother to us. Would come back anytime.

House is located in a good location for our fishing trip, easy to get in and out. House was clean, but very basic, and outdated. Back deck has great view but floor covered in green, needs to be pressure washed once in a while. Very basic and not very comfortable furnishings. Beds are quite firm, and bring your own pillows because the ones supplied were very small and flat. All appliances worked, and it was nice having washer and dryer, but the sink in the one full bathroom was clogged and extremely slow to drain. The suppled towels and linens were fine, but make sure to bring your own soaps and shampoos. There was no garden hose, which made it hard to rinse things off. All in all it was fine for two guys who just needed a reasonably priced place to sleep in between fishing.
Manager response:
We appreciate you staying with us, John. The decks are scheduled for a pressure wash, and the clogged drain has been cleared out. The homeowner buys new pillows for the home every year. Thank you so much for your review!

Best screened in back porch ever! View of ocean from porch. Perfect for 3 or 4! Unobstructed view of Hatteras Light. Steps from the beach.

We stayed in a duplex that was located in the Cottages at the Cape community, right next to the Hatteras National Seashore beach in Buxton, NC., near the Hatteras Lighthouse. It was an easy walk to the beach, which we did daily. The accommodations were very nice - plenty of space in this three-story duplex. The kitchen had plenty of counter space, new-ish, decent appliances, plenty of dishes, pots and pans, etc. The two bedrooms were fine, comfortable beds. The only negative is that the lighthouse shone directly into one of the bedrooms - every 7 1/2 seconds! It has an incredibly strong, piercing light, which is great for ships on the ocean, but not so great for sleeping. The blinds in the bedroom were ineffective in blocking out the light. I would strongly suggest that the owners or managers of all the others in this little community provide black-out shades. There wasn't any way to hang a beach towel or anything over the window. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant location: quiet, close to the beach, and close to restaurants, grocery store, gas station, etc.
Manager response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, Debbie! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the home. We regret that the light from the lighthouse was an inconvenience during your stay. We have passed along your concerns regarding this outside disruption to the local manager who will work with the homeowner on a solution. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future!
