Historic Home with Prime Downtown Setting, Gorgeous Details & Fast WiFi

Occupying the second floor of a beautiful, historical building that dates back to 1905, this home provides wondrous craftsmanship and a prime downtown setting for your next trip to Arcata. It's the perfect spot if you're visiting Cal Poly Humboldt, looking for a home base to explore the redwoods, or taking in the beauty of the town and the wild ocean coast nearby.

This home sits four blocks north of Arcata Plaza in the heart of downtown, where it's perched atop a small business on the first floor. As you enter, you'll be greeted by all sorts of timeless details - exposed rafters, built-in nooks and shelving, and elements of brick and richly hued wood. The space seamlessly combines the past and the present, offering high-speed WiFi, stainless steel appliances, and a washer/dryer to refresh your wardrobe after a day at the beach.

The kitchen features every essential appliance (including a gas range and a dishwasher), a large window to let in the sunlight as you work at the sink, and a convenient prep island. It also has an open view of the living room with its comfortable seating and built-in desk workspace. On either side of the living room, there's a light-filled bedroom with an en suite bathroom - one with a tub, one with a shower. One of the two bedrooms also has its own workspace nook.

We were in town for our daughter's wedding and my husband and I stayed with our son and his girlfriend very comfortably in this charming space. We loved the proximity to Wildberries, Cafe Phoenix and the Arcata square. There is also a beautiful view of the Humboldt Bay from the kitchen window. Although there are two bathrooms, only one bathroom has a shower. The other bathroom has a claw foot tub and it would be great if that bathroom also had a hand held shower attachment. We had a great stay.

2nd time staying here: our favorite Arcata Place. Easy walk to everything. Easy drive anywhere. Cozy, comfortable, everything we love about a place to visit and stay away from home.

It is a well located charming unit with restaurants, grocery store and the town square within walking distance. The unit was very clean upon check in. Communications with the manager were clear, easy and prompt. The kitchen was very well equipped with more cookware than what we used. The bed was comfortable. We found the unit rather quiet even though it is on a busy street and there are other occupants in the building. However, we were awakened by the noise of police actions one of the mornings. It is a safe neighborhood but there were homeless people loitering around. We are from the bay area so we were not too startled by it. We chose Arcata because it was a convenient location for us to visit the Redwood National and State Parks.

It's only the two of us staying there so there is plenty of room. We only used the shower and left the bath tub alone. The bathroom where the tub is has a low ceiling. As a result, I cannot see the top of my face from the mirror, a minor issue but a relevant one if the unit is shared by two couples.

We were there visiting our daughter that attends HSU for Easter. This house was truly in the heart of Arcata, there’s a view of the bay from the kitchen window and the forest from one of the bedrooms. Super clean, comfy beds, open concept, and Vacasa was very attentive and responded to all of my text messages. The Plaza, restaurants and grocery shopping is all within walking distance! Will stay there again for sure!
