Ellijay has the seclusion of a mountain town with the amenities of suburbia. Hands down everyone needs to walk Main Street for the antiquing as well as the food. Cantaberry has the best homemade soups and sandwiches on the East Coast.

Quiet, and definitely for family reunion, and relaxation.
The road can be scary at night for those coming for the first time, or in case of snow.
  • Ellijay

Loved the isolation of the cabin. The road to it is tricky. The town itself is nice, most of the shops and restaurants were closed though.. and it was a Monday. Not a holiday.

    Blue Ridge - Main Street
Amicalola Falls - also, they have a lodge that sits up on top of a mountain, and what a mountain view.
Mountain Valley Farms - farm raised meats, cheeses, etc.

We loved the cabin and we built a fire and had smores and we loved the sound of the little river. The only thing I found could be improved was the older ladies wanted to watch TV they didn't care about watching movies and they like watching the news.

Downtown in the old part of Ellijay has a number of antique stores and restaurants, so it was a fun day out. On the other hand, just hanging out at the cabin was fantastic. The back porch is screened and is about 10 feet from the creek -- so relaxing.

    A lot of hiking possibilities.
The so called resort is of not much use. It takes you 20 minutes to get to the indoor pool, however twice it was closed, the first time they had a water quality issue, the second time it was raining and they had safety concerns (what good is an indoor pool if you can't use it when it is raining outside?).
