We loved this place! Very close to the center of Helen. Apartment was spacious and clean and had everything we needed plus a nice view. Would definitely book again!

The property was as described and we enjoyed our stay with 5 adults over the Thanksgiving holiday. Would stay again.

This property is in a great location when visiting Helen, GA and looking to be walking distance from everything the town has to offer. There is a nice scenic view of the river from the kitchen and living room. The inside of the property was also clean. The caveats to this property have to do with the overall structure of the building and the interior furnishing. Structurally, the building is all wooden and there isn't enough insulation/sound proofing in the walls and ceilings. Specifically, from this first floor unit you will hear every step, movement, and in certain spots conversations happening in the unit above this unit. When people upstairs are walking around and rolling suitcases at midnight and 4am it sounds like stomping and echoes through this rental. Additionally any people walking around outside of this unit on the different patios can clearly be heard in this unit. Regarding the furnishings, the beds were nice and there were smart TV's in all the rooms which was welcomed. All other ancillary furniture is dated but that isn't where I have issues with the furnishings. The issues I have with the furnishings come from the dining table having broken chairs and the broken TV stand that is being held up with a plastic top as a wheel caster. There are a few minor enhancements the property could make to address the shortcomings regarding the furnishings. If you plan on spending the majority of your time outside exploring the area or aren't bothered by outside noise getting into your rental space, I highly recommend staying at this location. If you plan on spending time relaxing inside the rental and you want a quiet space this may not be the best rental for your desires.

Where is Helen, GA?

Located in North Georgia along the Chattahoochee River, and a 2-hour drive from Atlanta, Helen provides a Bavarian alpine village feel in the middle of the Georgia mountains. Because of its scenic backdrop, residents and visitors of this town enjoy hiking trails, water activities, fishing, and vineyards. Oktoberfest in Helen, GA

There's a reason Helen is Georgia's third most visited city. Home to the Southeast's largest Oktoberfest, Helen takes pride in this yearly festival. Helen's Oktoberfest is also the longest-running festival of its kind, lasting from mid-September through October 30. There’s no shortage of authentic German cuisine to fit the festivities, and plenty of other eateries to tickle your taste buds.

Enjoy both domestic and imported brews, as well as some local crafts from Helen’s growing brewery and wine scene. After the Oktoberfest parade, attendees head to Helen Festhalle, where Tapping of the Keg commences. Then it's on to all the German music, dancing, food, and drinks you can handle.

Things to do in Helen, GA

Oktoberfest isn't the only time that this town embraces German culture. Because of its Bavarian influence, many of the restaurants in Helen serve German cuisine daily, with German get-ups to boot. Hofer's is a favorite breakfast joint among locals, but it also offers a bakery full of homemade breads and desserts.

Don't forget to stop by the deli counter to order some German meat and cheese to go. Hansel and Gretel's is another wonderful dessert shop that specializes in fudge and chocolate. You can also grab an imported brew at The Troll Tavern to enjoy a bite right on the riverbanks or stop by the Habersham Winery, one of the state’s oldest wineries, located on the outskirts of the city.

In the winter, you’ll find German-style Christmas markets along the town square. Summer is a busy time too, with June and July being the busiest summer months. Tubing on the Chattahoochee is summer's most popular activity. There’s also plenty of fun to be had in the mountains, with another one of Helen’s most unique features: a self-controlled coaster that curves through the mountainside.

Unicoi State Park and the Chattahoochee National Forest are other spectacular specimens of Georgia's nature. Anna Ruby Falls is a stunning double waterfall that's accessible via a quick half-mile hike on a convenient paved trail. From two viewing decks, pull out your camera or phone to take a few shots to remember for a lifetime. With a destination that has unique experiences to offer year-round, book a Helen vacation rental with access to it all.
