The house was large, comfortable and adequately furnished for comfort. The bedrooms were large, lots of seating in the living room, the house was clean and very close to bakeries and the strand....

I took my 3 sons to Galveston on a fishing trip which was supposed to be the highlight of our vacation. Turn out the stay at the Shaw House was the highlight and we will stay again!

The house was great. Plenty of room.
Communication with an early check-in was frustrating. No reply back.

This is a spacious remodeled home. I don't know how old it is. The owners kept the old charm while updating the kitchen and bathrooms. It reminds me of a tv show remodel. Really nice work.

Great house! Much bigger than it looks in the pictures. Housed ten of us easily. Lots of places for quiet time as well- many levels of porches and porch swings. Nice backyard for the kids and two blocks down the street to an amazing playground. We walked most places- up to the strand and over to the Stewart beach (about a mile). Tons of towels and dishes. The only thing to be careful of is the sugar ants- keep the island and the master bathroom counter upstairs free of all food! Also there are several lock boxes - one in mailbox and two on the porch so it took us a few to figure out which one held the key.

This gorgeous house was just perfect for our needs! It easily slept 5 people in 4 different bedrooms (with one to spare). The accommodations were wonderful, the kitchen was perfect and there was sooo much room to spread out. The wifi and televisions worked like a champ. It was tastefully decorated with lovely linens and towels, and it was just two blocks down from the party which we were attending.
The only tiny imperfections was that there were no tissues to be found in the house at all! A box of kleenex would have been a godsend for 5 allergy ridden people! It would also have been nice to have an extra key.

It was full circle coming back to the house that my husband and I first bought when we moved to Galveston. I love that it was converted into the house I always knew it could be. Everything was great, lots of space and room for all of us to celebrate the New Year!

Lovely home and well stocked with what you will need! Really only a few small things kept me from giving this 5 stars: sugar ants in the kitchen (ongoing issue from prior reviews), no locks on any bedroom or bath doors, and no hot water in the upstairs bath. Again, we enjoyed the stay and love the area - the house is spacious and was perfect for the 7 of us.
We appreciate our guest reaching out to us through this review so we know where we can best improve. The house has been sprayed for pests, and guests are always welcome to call in with any questions or concerns so we can help make their stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you!

This home served us well as a base for our daughter's wedding in Galveston. Lots of room, modern amenities set is a pre-1900 house.

The home is gorgeous. It has a very comfortable feel from the moment you walk in to the well appointed living room, the large dining room and central kitchen. The two master suites (one down, one up, were really nice and the remaining bedroom perfect for a short stay.
There are a few 'tricks' to the house with the kitchen drawers being a little less than stable and the kitchen is fairly sparse on equipment, but we were able to make do perfectly well!

Easy trip with 3 kids. Highly recommend it!

The size of the house

Loved the history and finishes of the home. Kitchen draws need some love as they aren’t installed properly. Good proximity to downtown Galveston. Our main issue was a broke down neighbors car infront of house, one parking pass instead of three and a sugar ant problem in home. They crawled over the counters, stove and any food you had out. Fix the ant problem and the lack of air in upstairs master and it’s a perfect home.
We apologize for the inconvenience of the truck with the flat tire parked in front. The neighbor has had it repaired and moved. Also, we are ensuring the notes are accurate in stating there is only one parking pass available. An exterminator has been called in regards to the ants. The air conditioning will most certainly be looked at and repaired as needed to ensure a pleasant stay for future guests. Thanks!
