Awesome experience overall. Great views. Quick beach access. Good space and amenities in the house. Will certainly book again.
Large house with plenty of common space and reasonable equipment and furnishings Nice view. Minus: no curtains in the bedrooms, which means one wakes up at 6 am, not ideal for vacation. Right by HWY 101, with fairly heavy lorry traffic and 24 hr noise. Would warn a friend about the noise and the missing curtains
We had a wonderful time and were especially fond of the large spaces and driftwood touches! Literally around the corner from Moonstone Beach, a Humboldt favorite! We could see a couple paddle boarding in the river from the beach side view. I slept in the “rollaway” bed which was unbelievably comfortable. Easy access to many local places. I was tired of driving (we had a lot going on) so the young people (in their 20s) took an Uber to Arcata for browsing and ice cream which was a $20 ride split among the three of them! Not bad! So lovely at sunset time, very quiet and quaint with all the modern amenities. I love the flat screen covered by an abstract painting! I had just been thinking if an idea like that and enjoyed seeing it put in action. My local friend visited and said she would recommend it to visiting out-of-towners. Don’t miss the Westhaven Center for the Arts, having a sunset drink at Moonstone grill, and enjoying the charming town of Trinidad. Scenic drive is rugged but worth it to visit Hooda Point and marvelous Luffenholtz beach overlook-it will remain in your memory forever!
Information about the check-in process was given well in advance (I loved the app it had everything we needed to help with our stay.) Check-in was a breeze. There was a sign clearly explaining where to park. The house was easy to find thanks to the pictures. We immediately put our things inside and walked to the beach. It was even more breathtaking than I imagined. The walk back up has a steep grade but if it’s too much for you to tackle, you can always drive the very short distance down. There was plenty of parking available. After the beach we showered and took a quick drive downtown. We ordered a pizza to go (delicious) and while waiting walked over to Murphy’s to pick up a few items. We visited Fern Canyon, Patrick’s Point, and the beach by the downtown area. We love this little town and the house was a perfect spot to set out each day. We loved hanging out at night in the sunroom and looking out all the windows. We stayed during the weekend when there wasn’t much traffic but noise could be a problem for some people who are sensitive. We slept like a rock in the comfortable beds! The linens were so soft and cozy. My son had reservations because there weren’t curtains on several of the windows but I assured him we were high enough that no one could see in. I loved not having a curtain to obstruct my view. Check-out was the easiest I’ve ever experienced. I can’t forget to mention the kitchen was well stocked with basic items that we would need like coffee filters to prevent us from buying them for two nights. We also found a sweet treat waiting for us on the counter. We enjoyed sitting on the deck one evening while we enjoyed a few. We would stay here again and recommend this wonderful property.
We had a good stay. Place very clean and wonderfully located very close to Moonstone beach. Also very close to US 101. A professional baseball player could throw a baseball to the road if not for trees so a little noisy if you want to sit on the deck. Excellent parking around back of place. My only comment is its a bit pricey.
Everyone enjoyed the location and this rental while in the REDWOODS of Northern California.
Great location with excellent views! A short walk to the beach with lots to explore. A short drive in any direction will get you to many more great views and plenty of places to eat and explore. Nice scenic drives gets you to fern canyon and the avenue of the giants. Local towns with old time charm and open beaches to roam. The house was clean, well stocked with plates and glasses. Comforting and relaxing while overlooking the ocean. The owner was there within minutes when we had a question about the pellet stove. Overall we had a great time on our first visit to the great northwest coast. Our daughter graduated from Humboldt State University and was very familiar with the area to act as our personal tour guide. She said this house was in the best location you could ask for.
The place was great and worked out well for our plans. The only thing I would recommend is better knives and a few more serving dishes. Everything else was great!
House itself was great and so was view. However proximity to highway was a bummer. Even had lights from cars at night sometimes in bedroom. We live in very rural area and expected somewhat more serene experience
We enjoyed our stay in this home. The home was as advertised, very clean, all the kitchen necessities you could need, and a great variety of games and puzzles. We also loved the location within a few minutes walk to the beach. The only request we would make is for more blankets for the roll away beds. It would have been nice on the colder, rainy nights we were there.
Very peaceful and pleasant
We loved the area and how close we were to the beach. It was less than a 5 minutes walk to the beautiful moonstone beach. The house was also clean, in good condition, comfortable, and very spacious. When there was an issue with a battery dying in a smoke alarm on a Saturday, we called the number left in the binder and someone was there to take care of it within a couple hours. The beds were comfortable and there was good bedding. The tv was also nice since it came with all the Hulu, Netflix, etc. options. We were very happy with our stay!
Great Space...Wonderful View...Hope to come again!
The stay was wonderful with such a close proximity to the beach. The sun room had great views from the rocking chairs, or table.
Our stay at Driftwood Beach House was very comfortable. Bedrooms had comfortable beds. A second bath would have been great, but we knew there was only one available. There was plenty of seating for viewing TV. The table in the family room was great for putting puzzles together. Many puzzles available to choose from. Of course, the view was amazing. The home was clean and the management team were very helpful. The Home App was quite useful. My family enjoyed walking to Moonstone Beach. We were fortunate to have great weather while we were in Westhaven. We were visiting other family so we enjoyed dining at The LightHouse in Trinidad, Larapins, and a new restaurant, Campground. We also went to Stone Lagoon a few times for surfing. Lots of Hiking to Trinidad from the house along the beach. A great stay!
Loved the short walk to the beach. Wi-Fi was great.
We loved the tranquil vibe of this lovely home. The ability to walk to the beach was lovely and the beautiful flowers along the road was very beautiful. Very comfortable beds and we appreciated the extra towels.
