Beautiful Barn & Home w/ Bucolic Setting, Fireplace, Firepit & Horse Stalls!

Remember how fun it was to play in the hayloft of your granddaddy’s barn when you were a kid? Well, it’s still fun, but this ain’t your granddaddy’s barn.

It’s that magical time of year when Montana is cloaked in a blanket of white. Here at The Stalls, things are even quieter than they are in the summer. But that doesn’t mean you should only sit on your keister. Winter is the perfect time for an action-packed getaway. If you’re a cross country skier, you can ski right out of the barn and explore the pristine surroundings, or you can head three miles down the road to enjoy groomed cross country trails. If snowshoeing is your thing, come on over and make some tracks. For snowmobilers, there are many miles of trails to get your zoom on. And let’s not forget downhill skiing on Big Mountain or exploring the lower elevations of Glacier Park. There’s no chance of getting bored around here.

The downstairs is all business. With eight stalls and paddocks with automatic waterers, a tack room, and a horse-wash station, your horses will feel right at home. Maybe you want to bring a llama, a dog, or a wallaroo. I don’t care, throw ‘em in a stall. The Stalls at Whitefish wants to accommodate your needs.

And you’re probably a little more discerning than your pets, which is why the upstairs is well-appointed to suit your needs. This space was built for relaxation, so you can veg out watching TV; clean up after a day of hiking, riding, or skiing in the rainfall shower; or watch the fire glow from your bed.

Only four miles from downtown Whitefish, The Stalls at Whitefish is conveniently close to town yet it feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere. Bucolic at its best. In the summer, you can grill a steak and eat next to the campfire. In the winter, you can snowshoe, cross country ski (there’s even a groomed trail a few miles down the road), snowmobile, or head up to Big Mountain for a day of downhill skiing. No matter what you like to do, we’re close to it. And when the day is done, there’s no better setting in which to relax.

Whatever your preference, come on over!

The Stalls at Whitefish LLC (. Mar 2022
This beautiful and well thought out barn provided the perfect place for our family to bond and play. The Stalls at Whitefish are just far away enough from town to take a breath of pure Montana air, yet just close enough to enjoy all the town has to offer. Doug is an exceptional host - it is apparent upon arrival that he has thought through every detail extensively of how to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. The barn is well equipped for long, fireside dinners after a day of skiing, hiking, riding horses, or enjoying Glacier National Park.

Our favorite features are the shower, bunk beds, and the living room space. The barn wood laden shower is unique with a beautifully crafted fish design around the drain. The bunk beds are a wonderful use of space; perfect for night time stories with kids or a retreat from a snoring spouse. Finally, the living room is an enjoyable place to kick back, drink some coffee, and tell lies about the size of your jump on Grey Wolf!

Huge vacation win!

We loved staying at The Stalls. The home is upscale/rustic with western charm that makes even East Coasters feel at home. The fireplaces, cowhide chairs & rugs, cozy bed and antler lighting dress up a barn to perfection. We can't wait to return! Lisa & Steve Jenks

We had a lovely week-long stay at The Stalls. The attention to detail and ambiance were phenomenal and we loved how secluded we felt without being too far from town or the mountain. We loved coming home to The Stalls after a long day of riding and getting cozy on the couch by the fire. We hope to come back someday!

Yes, your place is awesome, spectacular, and the perfect home away from home for a secluded, relaxing getaway. We spent our first two days in Glacier Nat`l Park, but yesterday we just relaxed here and enjoyed the house and the surroundings. Thank you so much for creating this wonderful home. We enjoyed our time here immensely.

It was so nice to meet you! Anyone who rescues children and animals is a friend of ours. We love everything you`ve created here. It`s exactly what we needed/wanted in your great state of Montana. The decor is amazing. I`d love to just live her or recreate this at home. Come visit us if you ever get to northern California. On Airbnb we`re `Redwood Retreat Calistoga.` Until we meet again, Happy Tails & Trails. Go Tigers!!

We had a great time! Thank you. This place is awesome. What a beautiful environment and spectacularly peaceful space. You have done an amazing job with the barn. Loved the garden. We wish you great success in your venture. With very best wishes.

This place was beyond our expectations! It's beautifully designed and has all the upscale amenities of home plus some. The property has the most beautiful flower garden area to enjoy plus a fire pit with on-site wood and supplies. I hands down recommend this place !

We loved your barn, it is most likely the nicest place to stay at in all of Montana! We wish we had more time to explore the area and appreciate the surroundings. We did meet a few friendly dogs that just randomly greeted us, don`t know if you know them. One of them was a brown golden retriever. Anyway, back to the barn. Truly awesome! So awesome in fact we almost wish we had 3 kids for the bunk beds and 7 horses for the stalls down stairs, but then we probably couldn`t haul them all to stay here. Thanks for putting together such an amazing place. We loved it and look forward to coming back.

A rare gem of a place. The apartment looks like something out of Architectural Digest. Beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and stocked with everything essential. The property is both rustic and refined - the gardens, firepit and picnic areas are lovely. The host was incredibly solicitous and responsive to our every need. It was a convenient 15 minute drive to downtown Whitefish, 40 minutes to Glacier National Park. We truly loved our stay here.

Doug's place is most comfortable and clean place. The home is thoughtfully designed and beautifully decorated. It was a perfect place for our 9 months infant.

Somethings to note:
1) The house is located in the woods. Hence perfect for family retreat it is equipped with everything needed to enjoy family time such as chess table, outdoor grill, campfire, beautiful garden with swing etc. Also, there are nice neighborhood trails that you can take for evening and morning stroll.

2) The road to the house is unpaved. Try to reach home in daylight for the first time.

3) Wifi can be spotty and hence perfect for retreat. If you are planning to work from home it might not be the place for you.

Overall, we really loved the home and our stay at Dougs place.

Thank you so much for having us! Staying at The Stalls was such a unique and cozy experience. We especially loved grilling out and sitting by the campfire. We watched an almost full moon rise and listened to an owl late into the night.
