The hike to Eagle Lake is highly recommended. It takes approximately 45 min to an hour to hike there depending on your fitness level and how many times you stop to take pictures. The lake is tranquil and scenic. Take plenty of water and food so you can enjoy viewing the lake while you rest up.

There is a cross country ski area across the street from Dollar Drive. We took our mountain bikes and rode the trails. The trails have signs to help navigate and there were people walking, running and riding along, so you are not likely to get lost.

Fire Sign Cafe was excellent for breakfast. Very busy all the time but wait was never that long and you are given a buzzer so you don't have to wait there. Across the street from there is a neat little market (west Shore)with fresh baked goods and salads etc.

We had a nice dinner at Mamasake in the Village at Squaw Valley, and I would recommend it for Japanese food. Additionally, there is also live music at the Commons Beach in Tahoe City on Sundays during the summer (we were able to attend the last one of the summer on 9/4), which was wonderful. We also did the Five Lakes Basin hike that was included in the Vacasa list of recommended hikes and had a great time.

We are very pleased with North Lake Tahoe, a geographical area very well preserved and maintained. The walk along the lake is really pleasant, however the beach near the property is just o.k. not as nice as the one, for instance, at Chambers.

The Tahoe Gal tour boat (the 10:30am 1-1/2 hr tour, was far better than we expected. It not only gave a view of the shoreline and amazing homes, but a really interesting, nicely narrated talk along the way with lots of very interesting info about the Lake and history. It was also very peaceful on the return trip.

In the winter there is no walking opportunity around the house though. I thought we will be able to walk down to the lake (amazing views) but there is no walking path by the lake. So to play in the snow with the kids we had to drive.

Lake Tahoe is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Skiing Squaw Valley is world class. Sugar Bowl is a gem. I always enjoy Alpine. Homewood, when conditions are right, makes for some of the best tree skiing I have done, and the view is righteous. Diamond Peak is okay and the view is the best on the lake.
