Where is West Ocean City, MD?

When most people hear the name Ocean City, they often think of Fenwick Island with its beachside resorts, amusement parks, and world-famous, three-mile-long boardwalk. However, just west, on the other side of the bay, is where you find the community known as West Ocean City. This area continues west along Route 50 to Berlin, north up to Ocean Pines, and back over to Assateague Island to the southeast.

Fishing is extremely popular throughout the region and anglers of all stripes will be thrilled with the many opportunities to hook Bream, Bluegill, Catfish, and at least two varieties of Bass. While it is easy to cast off the shore or drop lines in from various piers, a number of local marinas offer charters for both bay and offshore ocean fishing. Discover why the Ocean City waters are known as the White Marlin capital of the world!

Golfers eager for a challenge will find themselves having to choose from several championship courses throughout the area including the GlenRiddle Golf Club, Ocean Resorts, and Ocean Pines, the only Robert Trent Jones Championship Course on Maryland's eastern shore!

Looking for some new walking shoes or perhaps a whole new wardrobe? Visit the many shops at the Tanger Outlets or the nearby White Marlin Mall located next door. Both are right on Ocean Gateway, less than a mile from the water's edge and close to all our West Ocean City vacation rentals.

Located on an island eight miles south of West Ocean City, Assateague State Park is Maryland's only oceanfront park offering two miles of beaches and secluded marsh areas teeming with unique wildlife including deer and feral horses. Visit Paradise Watersports near the bridge for Jet Ski rentals and parasailing, or rent a private boat from one of the many local marinas and head out on the bay for a relaxing day on the water at your own leisure.

And for amusement park rides, midway games, and carnival-style treats, take the entire family over to Trimpers Rides or the Jolly Roger Amusement Park and Splash Mountain Water Park located in exciting Ocean City just a few short miles away from your comfortable vacation rental.
