Where is Hector, NY?

Hector is located just over 20 miles west of Ithaca, on the eastern shores of Seneca Lake. It’s the largest of the Finger Lakes—67 square miles—and the deepest in the state of New York. Sprinkled around Hector are the landmarks of this area: vineyards and state parks.

Things to do in Hector, NY

The Seneca Lake Wine Trail is the largest of the region, featuring tastings and events at dozens of wineries, as well as breweries, cider houses, a distillery, and meadery. Many local companies offer shuttle services for groups of all sizes. Be sure to purchase a bottle to enjoy from the comfort of your Hector vacation home.

Golfers can spend a day on the green at the nearby Bonavista State Golf Course. You’ll have excellent lake views as you play this nine-hole course, which can be played from multiple tees to create an 18-hole course.

If it’s the outdoors you crave, Finger Lakes National Forest is just to the west of our Hector cabins. Here you’ll find hiking trails, like the Burnt Hill loop. This hike runs just under four miles and even allows dogs, so long as they remain on a leash. This forest is also a popular spot for fishing and blueberry picking.

Head to Lodi Point State Marine Park, where you’re almost guaranteed to find beach glass along your strolls. A boat launch, stony beaches, and picnic areas make this an ideal place to take the family. The waters are usually calm enough for stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking.

With a slow pace amongst some of New York’s most beautiful scenery, paired with the bustling college city of Ithaca about 30 minutes away, our Hector vacation rentals are perfect for exploring the Finger Lakes. Book your own slice of lakeside paradise today.
