We started our day at Old German Bakery where we tried German pancake then proceeded to take a walk down Main St with frozen sangrias in hand. We did some wine tastings on Main starting at Fat Ass then going to Fiesta. Then we also did more tastings at the actual wineries of Grape Creek (so pretty!) and Messina Hof. We had a cute and peaceful little picnic at Das Peach Haus that overlooks a small lake and had dinner and drinks at Crossroads and Hondo's. Both had live music and Crossroads had an open dance floor. The day after we hiked up Enchanted Rock State Park. All in all a very nice weekend bae-cation.

290 wine tours! $25 per person. The shuttle picks you up just off Main Street (right in front of the WWII museum) and takes you to a variety of vineyards (10-12 at least). Operates from 10am-6pm. Wine tastings were $15 and included 6 tastings (one was $10 for 5 tastings). You don't have to go to every vineyard, you can pick and choose. Multiple shuttles running at all locations; had to wait 5-7 minutes max for a shuttle. Great for family, friends, or girls trip.

Hondo's had great food and live music at night.

On recommendation from the wine tasting staff we had dinner at Alamo Falls Cafe which is right next to the Old Tunnel State Park. Alamo Falls Cafe was featured in Texas Monthly as the "Best Burger". I had the burger which lived up to it's reputation. My husband had the chicken fried steak which was just ok. We stopped by the park next door & stayed for the bats leaving the tunnel....fabulous experience! A park ranger gave a very informative talk about the bats before they emerged at about 8:00 pm. I would highly recommend doing this!

We had a limited amount of time, so we hand picked a few spots and spent some quality time at each. We love nature and the outdoors so Enchanted Rock Park was a must see for us and it did not disappoint. The Vineyard we chose was Grape Creek. We did the tasting and ate lunch there as well. Very impressed with the beautiful grounds and quality of the food and wine. Be sure to drop by Luckenbach, Texas and take in the history of the town and the famous musicians that have graced that stage with their performances. While in the heart of Fredericksburg, don't miss out on the authentic german atmosphere and amazing food! And most importantly, don't rush! Enjoy the slow Texas roll and friendliness of the locals!

We had a nice stay however here are a few recommendations
It would be nice if they had some sort of food options available like they do in Bryan.

My favorite spots include the Wild Seed Farm, Grape Creek Winery and Pedernales Winery, the Herb Farm, and the shops and restaurants downtown. Grape Creek Winery is one of the finest wineries I have ever visited, beautiful, affordable, and they grow their own grapes and produce their own award winning wines, too. The German restaurants were our favorites for both food and price. My husband loved the Nimitz Museum of the War in the Pacific. It was a very well-done museum. Plan for a full day there or several partial days to get through it all. Your ticket lets you back in unlimited times within 48 hours time. He also loved the Enchanted Rock area and Pedernales State Park. If we come back, we want to set aside more time to hike these areas. Monday and Tuesday are rather slow days in Fredericksburg. We loved that the town was quieter and less busy on those days, but several restaurants and shops choose those days to be closed, so those are perfect days to visit the local parks to hike or take the hour drive into San Antonio or Austin to do the Alamo or their river walks. We definitely hope to come back some time. Spring was gorgeous in the Fredericksburg area with all of the wild flowers!
