We have 2 kids in college in San Diego and have rented MANY spots in mission beach and PB. We loved this rental - for the price, you absolutely cannot do better than this. Check in and check out processes were seamless. It is big and the second (kid) bedroom has space to sleep 3. Garage is plenty big for one car and we were able to fit 2 in there (a Nissan Rogue and a Tesla) without too much trouble. It was dated - as you would imagine from the price- but very clean and everything worked. The bar across the alley did not bother us at all. Kitchen was well equipped and there were great beach chairs/beach toys and plenty of towels for the beach. You are 20 steps from the bay and a 2 minute walk from the beach. 10 minutes tops to Belmont Park. I will work with the folks at Vacasa anytime. Best property manager we’ve had. They sent us an email with an easy link to have a reasonably priced late checkout. Coffee maker has k-cups and a spot for ground coffee (they provided filters). Only complaint is the master bed was creaky and too soft. Should be replaced. Loved this beach rental!

The condo, was very spacious. It accommodate a family of six with enough room and amenities. It has a big garage and the location is a prime location, very close to everything
Becky O. Oct 2022
Home was clean, cozy, good location and provided us with everything we needed for our stay!
Jennifer F. Oct 2022
The location was amazing! A block from the bay and 2 from the ocean! Loved the little hole in the wall places to grab quick food too!
Natalia S. Oct 2022
Pros:
-great location, half a block to the bay and a few blocks to ocean. Close to coffee shop, mission market, amusement park.
- appreciated the sand toys and chairs!
- having parking was great
- Vacasa was very responsive

Cons:
- the mattress in main bedroom was horrific. It was creaky and uncomfortable. Many earlier reviews mention that too - I hope the owner upgrades it to ensure guests have a good night sleep. While at it, get some 100% cotton bedding. Polyester sheets are uncomfortable.
- the condition of many items were poor. Floorboards coming off, the table outside was peeling so badly that I was afraid to use it, many blinds broken
- there is a bar right next door that got LOUD with drunks screaming outside the door at 1.30am.
Manager response:
Hi Natalie. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, and letting us know of the areas we can improve upon. Please know, local staff is currently working with the homeowner in upgrading multiple aspects throughout the home. We have passed your feedback along for them to review and consider in their renovations. Please know we strive to provide every guest with a relaxing stay and while surrounding noise is often out of our control, we always make an effort to remedy noise complaints when notified. Again, we apologize for the impact this had on your visit, and we appreciate this feedback as a means to continually improve.

Loved the location, ease of access to beaches and shops, the home was beautiful and functional for my whole family! Can’t wait to go back!
Carie B. Aug 2022
The location was perfect for us and the home was welcoming, clean and plenty of room for us! I just wish it had AC.
Scott M. Aug 2022
This condo is located down a chill street. Great neighbors and just 1 min walking to the bay, food, market. Beach is 3 min walk max and really close to Belmont Park. The garage makes parking easy but is really better for 1 car. We found street parking right in front most days for extra cars. Condo was clean and had everything needed. It could use some paint and sprucing up for sure but overall it’s nice. I would definitely stay again.
Marcella K. Aug 2022
The home was nice and in the best location for both the bay and the beach. The bay was about 4 houses away and the beach is about 2 blocks away. There’s bars, markets, a Mexican food stand and pizza place on the corner of the street. The house was a nice size for my family of 4 and my 2 parents. I was a little disappointed that it has not been updated at all (bathrooms/paint/upkeep) but it was very clean upon arrival. The kitchen had the basic necessities and BBQ worked fine. The patio table outside was nice to have dinner on but had a very gross table cloth on it that couldn’t be removed. The garage had a washer & dryer and lots of beach equipment for us to use. I read several comments about it being a small garage but I was able to fit my suburban in it so I’d say it’s big enough for most cars. Overall I would recommend this home I just would hope for some necessary updates to be done considering how much money people pay to stay there.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Marcella. We're happy to hear that you had a good stay. We apologize for any issues you encountered during your stay and we have passed along your comments to our local team. We hope that you'll give us another opportunity to host you in the future.

Location: I was a little worried about the distance from the beach and crossing a street to get there with 3 kids, but it was so close and easy to get to. The bay is steps away, and the beach is a 30 sec walk. When we stayed in April we were able to get a few days of sun and warm weather. If you stay on the weekends you can watch the firework show across the bay at SeaWorld. It was walking distance to Belmont Park, and there are enough restaurants in the area to choose from. You don't have to ever use a car, which is a good thing because parking was really bad.

Parking: There are strict enforcement rules about street seeping on the streets, so it will take some luck to find parking near the home and close enough for your to unload and load. The garage is smaller than average. We gambled and brought a dodge ram and will not fit. You can probably only park a Prius or similar. There is overnight parking allowed half a mile south at the end of the street in a parking lot.

Rooms: A few reviews mentioned problems with the mattress, but we slept fine. The headboard did not seem secure and was loose enough to make a consistent noise. Bathroom, kitchen, and living room were in decent condition. A few fixtures and wiring were a little questionable.

Overall, its all about the location. Being near the beach to play and surf in the waves, and paddle board in the bay in the same day is what vacationing is all about.

well, I spent 4 days in this house (Thanksgiving 2021) and I will leave a true review about this place.
Pro: The lady who cleans this house should get 5 stars. I have use ultraviolet light to inspect everything came up nothing, very clean. And the house has everything u need to cook a big meal or simple breakfast.
Con: There is no street parking!!! People are fighting for parking in the area. Only place u can park is in the garage.
second, the queen size bed mattress was a joke, totally garbage. I got to sleep on the sofa for few days. The owner of the house seen doesn't care about the condition of his house. I understand most owner doesn't want to spend a penny on their rental house but at least something good people can sleep on. If I can have a good night sleep, I will give this house a 3 stars.
Manager response:
We're sorry to read you were unhappy, Brandon. Your concerns with the queen mattress have been brought to the homeowner's attention so they can consider replacing it. Thank you!

This place was in a great spot on mission beach, 1 min walk to the bay and a 3 min walk to the beach. There’s a super convenient grocery store right around the corner along with a couple places to eat/drink. It can be a little loud on the weekend but it’s not too bad. Vacasa staff was super helpful and quick getting us an extra set of sheets and an iron. I emailed at around 8 am and they delivered around noon. The place could use a handyman though. Several sections of trim around the fireplace and were broken and loose, along with some sliding doors that could use some attention. There was some sketchy looking extension cords and powerstrips that are stuffed into the wall. It all worked, but seems like a few minutes taken to reroute the cords and tidy it up would be easy enough. We’ll consider staying here again though. The garage is definitely short. You’re not parking tandem, maybe side by side if you have a couple Fiat 500’s. We had to park the car diagonally to fit. It was a Cadillac XT6 which is about 16.5’ long. You won’t find street parking anywhere close either, so don’t get too big of a car. Hope this helps!

The condo was very clean when arrived. We had a relaxing 3 day stay with wakes each day on the Ocean Front and Bayside walkways.
Both were a short walk from the 813 San Gabriel Pl condo.
We highly recommend it as a prefect place to get way and just relax.
Karen M. Nov 2020
We absolutely loved the location but there were so many issues with He house that it was a shame that I paid so much to stay there. To start the house was not clean at all. There were clean towels and sheets but the floor was sooo dirty that all of our feet were black within a few minutes. I don’t think the house keeper even tried to mop the floors.
The house is in super bad need of repair as well. No thresh holds between the rooms and the trim busted around the fireplace. Rust on everything in the bathrooms! Just when you spend over 2000$ for a week one would hope for more detail to up keep and cleanliness.
All of the kitchen dishes and coffee cups are in a weird place which is very difficult to reach if you are under 5’4”!!! Just not what I expected once again. On a good note, the neighbors are super nice as well as the area businesses. Great location and away from the crowds.
I will not rent this house again unless they upgrade it and make sure the house keepers are doing their jobs! FYI, the master bedroom bedskirt is filthy dirty and needs to be thrown away! The owner needs to also replace the blinds as they don’t have the balances and most of the cords are broken. So keep in mind that the photos don’t tell the entire story! I have photos if anyone wants to see them.
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your experience, Karen. We would like to apologize for the cleanliness and maintenance issues you encountered that negatively impacted your stay. We have worked closely with our local staff to address these concerns thoroughly and to ensure that our future cleanings live up to the Vacasa standard. We confirm the home has been deep cleaned, the trim around the fireplace has been fixed and the rust in the bathroom has been addressed as well. We hope for a chance to impress you in the future!

We had a very comfortable stay. The beach toys, boogie boards and chairs were great to have. The place was clean, beds were comfortable and the parking was awesome.
Alyssa N. Oct 2020
We were pleasantly surprised! This is a nice condo within walking distance to the ocean, bay and food. The garage is short so I wouldn't take anything longer than a small suv (we have a Nissan Rouge and it was a right fit). We will definitely look to stay here in the future!
Alicia C. Sep 2020
My family and I loved the house. My 3 year old son loved all the fun beach toys and games in the house. Very clean and cozy. So conveniently located by the beach, bay, and market. Would love to stay here again❤️
Richard R. Jul 2020
Great location in South Mission Beach. With a little TLC this could be a great rental.
Debbie C. Jul 2020
Very close walking distance to Bay and also super close to beach. Very convenient when you want to go to the restroom:).

Having garage parking is also a super win as the street parking is limited and always full.

Comfortable living room to hang out and relax after a day of sun and fun. WiFi was great and no problem with that.

Being able to BBQ with utensils is also nice-grill was super clean!

Very good location !

We like to visit the San Diego area and Mission Beach can be a lot of fun and relaxing. We have rented dozens of vacation homes over the years all over the US. I research very carefully before I go to understand what type of unit I will be using and if it fits what we need at a good price. This unit was a pretty good value for the area so we booked it for five days in February 2020.

Units in this part of Mission Beach typically have very very narrow parking in most of the units if at all. This unit has a wide garage that could fit two average sized cars, unfortunately, the alley is so narrow and the adjoining restaurant has its dumpsters placed in the alley as well. So trying to pull into and out of the garage can be very difficult with a bigger car; we have a Prius. Bringing in two cars is nearly impossible because of the approach angle to get in the garage, the dumpsters and people parking illegally in the alley. It was nice to have a code to use on the garage door entry pad to get in and out because the front gate was locked and we couldn’t enter through the front door. The lock was rusted shut. The local manager was able to fix it by the third day we were there.

We had no internet the duration of our stay and spent quite a bit of time trying to re-establish an Internet connection. The DIRECTV was great and had a lot of sports channels and local news. Didn’t have ESPN for some reason, but had Big Ten network NFL network and a lot of other standby stations. The unit was very clean, nice kitchen, roomy compared to others in the area no doubt. We stayed in February 2020 and we typically wake up early, unfortunately, if you plan to sleep in the businesses around the unit sharing the alley and others nearby fill their dumpsters up daily and they have to be emptied by a noise dump truck. So by 9 AM every morning the dumpster truck was making quite a bit of noise. Not a problem for us. Also there is no air conditioning and is not needed in February, however, some patrons of the restaurant and the nearby bar hang outside to have a smoke and talk and it can be very late at night. The restaurant has a screen door where patrons enter and exit and noise flows right through it. If you need windows open to keep your cool in summer, as there are no ceiling fans or AC, you may be up at night because of the noise. The master bedroom window faces in the direction of the bar and could keep you up at night. We had the luxury of sleeping in the second bedroom with the bunkbeds , keeping the window closed because it was chilly at night. So we slept fine. You are on the opposite side of the unit from the chatter and noise from the bars and grill in the second bedroom.

The unit is in a great location just steps away from the walking/bike path that goes around the whole perimeter of Mission Bay. Eateries are steps away. The mini market close by is very expensive but a Ralphs is a 10 minute drive away. A five minute walk or less you are on the beach. Lots of beach toys for boys and girls and provided beach coolers. Nice kitchen appliances and it is always great to have an efficeint icemaker in the fridge. We made use of the great Weber bas BBQ grill every night. Hopefully, the internet was reestablished for the next renter. It has DSL but there is also fiber service available (I spent a lot of time with ATT customer service trouble shooting the issue). A new modem was sent to the unit but we had no luck setting it up and the local manager finally requested a tech come to the unit because we spent hours on hold and etc. trying to get the internet working. The owner would do well to spend a little more for more reliable faster fiber optic service.

We likely would stay in this unit again in the cooler seasons as it fits our needs and is priced well for just the two of us and a friend or two who might stop by and have dinner with us. Public parking is not easy for guests in summer , for sure, but in February parking spots usually can be found nearby.

Perfect. Absolutely perfect
Douglas P. Mar 2020
Wonderfully located for easy walks to fun spots.

Parking is a premium so don’t bank on parking more than one vehicle easily.

Loved it!
Aspen R. Mar 2020
Really good location and easy to get in and out of! Big bonus having a private garage for parking!
Shaun F. Feb 2020
The place was perfect for what we needed. Plenty of room in the garage and the rooms were great. The garbage truck was not that bad and only once after 8am. I wouldn’t let it scare you away. If available on our next trip we will visit again. I highly recommend this place!
Dennis P. Dec 2019
Loved the unit and location. Didn't love being woke up by trash truck banging and backup alarm every morning. Not lying, Every morning.
Manager response:
Thank you for your feedback, Dennis. We apologize for the noise from the garbage truck. We will bring this to the attention of the local staff. Thank you!
