You'll feel as though you're on top of the world at this mountaintop lodge in Waynesville, where the majestic peaks and valleys of the Blue Ridge unfold before you. This is Western North Carolina at its most beautiful, with a gorgeous deck, walls of glass, and two firepits on hand to make the most of the setting.
This two-story home sits above the clouds at the top of Eagles Nest Mountain, affording almost 360-degree views in winter and spectacular vistas all year round. It's an incredibly private spot about five miles from the heart of Waynesville, home to all sorts of restaurants, shops, breweries, and activities. The Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum and T Pennington Art Gallery are just a short distance away, providing cultural exploration opportunities. Additionally, outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the convenience of being less than 19 miles from the Cataloochee Ski Area, allowing easy access to winter sports. The house is also convenient to Maggie Valley, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort, Biltmore Estate, and downtown Asheville. If you'd prefer to have fun on the water, drive 13 miles and take a waterfall tour. Grab some river floats and lounge on Lake Junaluska, only nine miles away.
The heart of this home is the light-filled great room, with glass on three sides framing the breathtaking view. Presiding over the room is Murray, a wooden moose hand-carved by an award-winning woodcarver who once taught his trade at the Biltmore Estate and originally built this cabin. Whether cooking dinner with stainless steel appliances in the remodeled kitchen or gathering to eat at the breakfast bar and dining room table, this space is beautiful. Cozy up by the woodstove, the room's centerpiece, with a movie streaming on TV.
Glass doors lead outside to the wraparound deck - a gorgeous spot for morning coffee, afternoon barbecues on the gas grill, and sunsets admired by one of two firepits. There's almost always a breeze up here, as the mountaintop setting makes it several degrees cooler than Waynesville and keeps the bugs at bay. In the evenings, retreat downstairs to stream movies and play Ping-Pong, darts, poker with chips and cards provided, board games, and puzzles by the electric fireplace in the game room.
A private washer/dryer, complimentary WiFi, an EV charger, and central air conditioning and heating via a Mitsubishi triple-head mini-split round out the home essentials.
