Loved it. Great spot with recently renovated modern accommodations in a remote and quiet valley.
The property is beside a stream with a large porch with a table and out front there is a fire pit with chairs. It is very quiet and peaceful. The views at night and of the morning fog around the mountains from the porch and front yard were spectacular.
You are half an hour from the nearest shopping, so pack in your groceries. All other toiletries and amenities were provided, including a Keurig and pods, a massive TV with cable and satellite Internet, and wi-fi.
The drive in from Cullowhee is gorgeous. Judaculla Rock and Sugar Leaf Falls, two National Forest Service sites, are both about a mile detour from the road to the cabin.
There's another house right behind (although landscaping makes it invisible inside the cabin), nature and a field with a distant house on either side, a flock of sheep out front, and it sits along a two-lane road with nearby neighbors, so it is not completely isolated.
It's a great location to use a base camp to explore the nearby mountains and trails. The cabin is also a half-hour drive from a cute chain of college and tourist towns called Cullowhee, Sylva, and Dillsboro, an hour from Cherokee, and about an hour a half from Asheville, so you can get a great lunch or dinner and be back to enjoy the quiet evening.
Would happily come back and recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, beautiful, and isolated but not too isolated place to spend some times in the North Carolina mountains.
The house is quaint and absolutely beautiful. The sound of the rushing River in the morning was so relaxing. The screened in porch was fantastic. Very clean with higher end amenities made this one of the nicest places we’ve stayed.
