Walk your dog to the beach, then sit by the fireplace at this cozy home
This cozy four-bedroom Tahoe City vacation rental is the quintessential North Shore getaway. Just two blocks from a beautiful Lake Tahoe beach area complete with barbecues and picnic tables, guests of all ages will adore this family cabin.
Less than 10 miles to the west is Alpine Meadows ski resort, part of Squaw Valley. Both luxury resorts offer year-round activities and fully-equipped villages with spas, restaurants, shops, and more. Nordic and cross-country skiing are highly sought here as they are some of the same runs traveled on in the 1960 winter Olympics.
Back in the home, you'll have a lovely atmosphere for vacationing together. The cozy living area features a flatscreen TV and a docking station for iPod/Internet access. The gas wood stove will keep your toes warm on the coldest winter nights. And, the full kitchen is equipped with appliances and utensils galore to satisfy all your cravings!
Four bedrooms (with five queen beds and four twins among them), two full bathrooms, and one half bathroom allow up to 14 guests to indulge in a stay at this charming home. There's also a pullout sofa sleeper in the living room for additional sleeping space.
No need to leave your furry friends at home as this cabin is dog-friendly (just note that there is an additional fee)! Plus, there's a private washer and dryer.
Bring your skis, bikes and kayaks (or rent them nearby) to enjoy at area resorts like Alpine Meadows.
Great location only 2 blocks from the lake. It's great for a large group. Big enough you dont feel crowded. The neighbors were very friendly gave us great suggestions on local places to check out. Close to town some of us walked there. Grocery store is only about 1 1/2 miles away. If your looking for a quiet place that's close to everything you may need this is the spot.

Location is great and the house is very nice. Great facilities. Really nice kitchen.

The house was perfect for two families. It was well stocked, very organized; linens and dishes were clean. Enjoyed the instant fire stove as it really warmed up the place quickly. First flour is tile, second flour carpet. Plenty of parking. The kids had a blast playing in the snow around the house. The house had a real home feel - not like a sparse rental. We would stay there again.

We have three families together for this trip, we love this little cabin as our home. Sweet & warm

Nice place. Well-equipped. Comfortable beds. Big kitchen. Cozy place. It worked well for our family

We were two families with a handful of kiddos staying for a relaxing few days at the cabin.
The house was very clean and up-to-date. It had plenty of beds and baths to accomodate everyone. The room with four beds was perfect place for all the kids to "sleep over" together. The kitchen was spacious and well stocked with dishes and other supplies. It was perfect for cooking meals together.
The location was great - very close to Tahoe City and only two blocks walk down to the lakefront. While there were other houses and condos nearby, the property was very quiet and a perfect calming atmosphere to hang out in nature for a few days.

Feels like home and it has all the necessities, big rooms.. would love to come back
Leslee B.Jun 2018
Great location and super clean. Comfortable seating and sleeping arrangements for our party of 8 adults and 2 children. The kitchen is very well stocked, plenty of towels in the bathrooms and the outdoor space was very inviting. We would definitely stay there again! Vacasa is a great company to work with; very responsive, and organized. Best part was we met Joan, a cousin of the owner; so friendly and nice!

Loved how peaceful and quiet the neighborhood is.

This has been the recurring expression. We felt so "at home" at Bristlecone Retreat House. The place has been well kept, furnished and organized. My elderly parents, 88 and 90 years old respectively, found a restful abode in the master's bedroom. I wouldn't mind returning there someday again. I will definitely recommend it... Thanks again for making our Tahoe trip a memorable one.

This cabin was the perfect little spot for me and a few friends. The cabin is by no means "little" but is just the right size for a quick weekend getaway. It has a very spacious and open main room and kitchen, 3 bedrooms with 7 beds in all, a gas grill on the back patio for cooking the delicious eats we picked up at the Safeway down the street. Highly recommend for a small to medium group looking for something close to the lake (about a half mile walk) that won't break the bank!

Was not expecting to love it, but I did.

A huge group of us stayed here during a snowy weekend to hit the slopes, and this 4bd/2.5ba suited us well (well, we could have used more bathrooms, but you can't beat this price point). Great location, cozy layout, comfy beds, well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms, functional heating, great fireplace, and lots of parking space. The only issues I had with the house were that the bathroom trashcan in the master on the entrance level had leftover trash in it, and the same bathroom's shower bar broke. Fortunately, we could still shower, and Vacasa called me back the next morning to follow up on my report. The only major gripe I want to share is with house accessibility when it's snowing due to flat roads without 24/7 maintenance. We got to the cabin super late (3 AM) because of the persistent snow showers and tons of traffic on the road...only to be greeted by waist-high snow in the driveway blocking our access to either door. While snow is unavoidable and manageable, we then had to chip away at ice on the driveway in order to get the cars through, meaning the roads must have not been well-maintained earlier to allow ice to form. Shoveling snow + chipping ice = hour delay, meaning we all hit the sack at 4 AM (and then woke up 3 hours later to hit the slopes). I don't know what resources are available for better road clearing, but I recommend that Vacasa at least leave a shovel right by the driveway entrance so that future guests don't have to sacrifice a tribute to wade through waist-high snow to get to the door to get the shovel from inside. All in all, if snow is not your enemy when you stay here, you're in for a treat.

It is a clean and very comfortable cabin, with all amenities we needed . It is in a quiet and private area near the lake .. Our kids loved it!!
Oriana L.Jan 2018
Had a great weekend unwinding here with family, kids and dogs for the weekend, after the holidays. Very nice house, loved the history shared by the owners.
Everything was kept up and in good shape!
Thank you for sharing your family home.

From the start, vacasa made the actual booking a breeze. I was able to speak to someone over the phone. The actual property was absolutely beautiful. They had every amenity my family and I were looking for. I'm definitely going to book this and other properties through vacasa in the future.
Rae D.Nov 2017
Absolutely beautiful, clean and large cabin that is perfect for a larger group! Well stocked and near the lake, it really is a great place to stay. I would highly recommend it and I'd stay there again!

We recently stayed at 240 Bristlecone with our two dogs. The place was clean and the neighborhood peaceful and quiet. The location was close to Tahoe City and the beach. We had a great weeks stay. We had to call Jay the property manager about the fireplace and he responded in a timely manner..Thanks so much!
Todd S.Jul 2017
We had the best time here. We'd love to return every summer and holiday. My kids loved the kids rooms. The neighborhood was quiet and the ambience relaxing. Master bedroom and bath were perfect. Kitchen was perfect and updated and well stocked. Plenty of room for everyone. It's dog-friendly but doesn't have any kind of odor. Perfect choice for a week or weekend away.
Charles L.Jun 2017
The house was very clean and is in a great location. Great design for large groups. It snowed in June. It was a pleasant surprise. I would come back again!
Kathryn T.Jun 2017
Loved the amount of beds for a large family and one room was downstairs
James M.May 2017
Great location and lots of room.
ISABEL B.Apr 2017
We really enjoyed our stay at this house. The location is terrific, but the house is super quiet. There is lots of room if you have a houseful of people, the beds are comfortable. For a rental, the kitchen is really well stocked.
Sarah M.Apr 2017
We spent two nights here during the winter wondergrass festival with a group of 8-12 people. The proximity to Tahoe City and a super dog-friendly beach right on Lake Tahoe make this the perfect retreat for anyone looking to escape but still have amenities clear by. The house itself was super cozy and the kitchen was very open, clean, and organized. We had a great time here!
Karoleen F.Apr 2017
For our families getting together for a weekend retreat, the home had everything we needed. We loved the labelling of all the items so we could find stuff easily from emergency cleaning supplies to where the mixing bowls should go. It's those little details plus how well the home was kept that made the place great.
Mitzi K.Mar 2017
Would give 5 stars except that Gas fireplace did not work and there was no response to our email or call to the main office for help. Except for the freezing first night and morning, once the cabin floors and bedrooms warmed up from individual floor heaters, the cabin was clean, comfortable and cozy for our group of 8 adults and 5 children and 1 toddler. Large kitchen was well equipped. We even barbequed on the outdoor grill one night. . Driving distance to the different ski resorts was within 20 to 40 minutes. Nice property, money well spent.

Had a great stay at Bristlecone!

Would love to stay here again. Large and clean, well stocked kitchen with plenty of dishes of all kinds. Great location!!! Clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are very nice. Bathrroms had plenty of towels and space top put your own things. Downstairs nice walk in shower with grab bars for Grandma(if she happens to come along) and upstairs bathroom floor warm and heated floor. Didn't think washer and dryer would be needed, but came in very useful. Kitchen sink had a leak, but was fixed the same day. Great response from management. Thinking about booking again soon.

We had a great trip thanks to Vacasa. Everything went very well, no problems like some of the other places we rent. House was very nice and clean. Beautiful home, thanks for the memories
Kristen G.Jan 2017
When we pulled up to this house, it was surrounded by 3' of snow, yet the driveway and walkway were shoveled and the house was warm and cozy. This house was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone. We will be back!
Shannon C.Nov 2016
The pictures do not do this place justice! This home is beautiful and easy walk to the beach. You will have all of the comforts of home, and it is close to nice restaurants and grocery stores. The home was very clean. It was just me a my husband, but this home could easily accommodate several people. We will defiantly stay here again, had a lovely time!
Gia G.Oct 2016
We had a fabulous time. The home was well supplied, and it is just a short walk down the to beach, and only a 2 minute drive into town. Bike trails are right there, for an easy ride into town as well. We will definitely come back!
Nicole J.Mar 2016
I enjoyed this location and do recommend it. Other than the big black ants that were staying there with us.
Gerardo S.Mar 2016
The house was warming and clean.. Big enough for our family.
Mai N.Mar 2016
Overall the stay was pleasant. We had a blast skiing at Squaw/Alpine Meadow. The drive from this house to the ski resorts was easy and relatively close. We only came home to sleep. There were plenty of beds for our group.I love the hot water. It came on within seconds of turning on the faucet. The faucet in the kitchen has hot and cold water installed in reverse. The first time using it, I thought we didn't have hot water. However, when I placed the faucet handle in the middle, I had warm water, that was when I figured out that it was installed backward. Asides from the ants problem and the dryer's broken knob, everything was fine. We enjoyed our stay.
The Property Manager is aware of the ants and dryer and will address those issues as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconveniences these may have caused.

We just returned from a perfect stay at Bristlecone Beach Retreat. The home is very lovingly outfitted with everything you need and it's in tip top shape. We loved all of the special touches (board games! puzzles!) and the gas fire is so cozy. Highly recommend!

I am one to prefer good news first and bad news later, so that is how I'll execute this review as both good and (more) bad news bears.
My family and I spent months planning our trip to North Tahoe for the holidays. From San Diego, CA, we road tripped nearly 10 hours to Tahoe in search of a white Christmas. Here comes the good news; a white Christmas it was indeed. Snow fell in such a way that our family has never seen before and the tree tops, roof tops, and car tops were covered in snow. It was a winter wonderland. The location of this rental puts you in the midst of it all and upon arrival, from the outside looking in, all was perfect.
Here comes the bad news; if only the interior of our cabin looked as dreamy as the exterior. Upon entering the cabin, we were pleased by the its coziness and elated that it would accommodate our party of 13. However, as we looked through the rooms and the restrooms-- the messy sheets on each bed, dirty towels on the bathroom floors, and remaining trash confirmed that the rental was not cleaned and serviced prior to our arrival. Being a family that has stayed at a vacation rental before, we expect, as anyone should, that at the VERY LEAST, our rental home would be properly serviced before our arrival. Long story short, we spent our first nights stay cleaning another family's mess. We cleaned the bathroom. Did laundry. Drove in harsh weather conditions (as though a ten hour car ride was not enough) to retrieve cleaning supplies. All of this to compensate for what Vacasa lacked-- CLEANLINESS. To make matters worst, we had children under the age of one present.
On the same night we called management to express our concerns and were promised a cleaning service the following morning. No avail. The following day, 9:00 am passed. 11:00 am passed. 1:00 pm passed. No cleaning services ever arrived.
As beautiful as the scenery was, no paying customer deserves this kind of service. Whoever dropped the ball on Vacasa's end really did a disfavor to their company as we will never be renting from them again. As positive and high spirited we tried to remain in lieu of the Holiday, this occurrence very negatively impacted our trip for obvious reasons. Understandably, mistakes happen, however this is a mistake that could make or break one's vacation. A mistake that no established company should make.
If I had it my way, I would not have to write such a negative review and as I conclude it, I can only hope this is a lesson learned and such a thing will not occur to other families moving forward.
Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. We sincerely apologize that the home had not been properly cleaned prior to your stay and that housekeeping missed rectifying the situation; we understand what a damper this puts on a vacation and how distasteful it is to clean up somebody else's mess. Housekeeping has received follow-up on this situation so we can avoid this problem in the future. We did refund this guest for their unpleasant housekeeping experience. The home itself is wonderful, and we look forward to sharing it with many more guests!

We loved this property. Very clean and stocked with everything you would need. Our party of 13 had plenty of room and everyone had a comfortable bed to sleep in. The kitchen was modern and had all the amenities you would have in your own kitchen. Nice open concept where we all watched football and played games at the large dining table. All bathrooms were nicely done and plenty of towels , blankets, and linens. Didn't have to do extra laundry to accommodate our large group. Nice neighborhood and a short walk down to lake. Definitely would come back.

I recently stayed at Bristlecone with a group of 14. We all had a place to sleep and were very comfortable. We were surprised again and again at how well-stocked the house was. Our favorite part was the open concept family room, eating area, and kitchen. Our entire group was able to spend time together in one area. The location was also great. Walking distance to the lake and within a few minutes from Tahoe City.

We were blown away by its size, location, cost, and overall comfort. Plenty of parking space, great heating (every room was equipped with its own thermostat), games, movies, pristine kitchen with tons of fridge space, 0 noise, etc. Will def return if an opportunity presents itself.

We had a great stay at the Bristlecone property. We will rent this place again. Close to beach, shops, and bike trail!
Grant T.Aug 2014
We loved our stay at 240 Bristlecone. The house was clean and comfortable. There are four bedrooms- there were four adults and three small children, and there was more than enough room to accommodate us. We were told to help outrselves to the foodstuffs already in the house, so we didn't need to go shopping for some essentials- sugar and condiments, e.g.
The location is also great- it's about a five minute walk to the water- although it's not necessarily a swimming beach (Skylandia Beach is about a 15-20 minute walk away), it's perfect for a morning/evening stroll with the family.
