Me and my family enjoyed staying here. Plenty of space and nice view. Thanks for letting us stay there.

My family of 8 stayed in this wonderful cabin for almost a week. Words cannot begin to describe the rustic escape this beautiful cabin provides, but I want to give a thorough review, so let’s start from the beginning. If you’ve ever stayed in the mountains before, you may have had to traverse steep, narrow roads, possibly even gravel or dirt roads that don’t allow for the best traction. We could not have been more pleasantly surprised by the road to this cabin. You’re certainly aware that you’re going uphill, but never at a steepness that makes you uncomfortable. It’s a very manageable road to the top. Towards the bottom of the road you have to pass through a locked gate and the entire road all the way to the front door of the cabin is smoothly paved. As a passenger, the views only get better as you climb the mountain. The cabin itself is very charming. This place is what one might envision when you think “cabin”. It’s made of huge, dark logs with warm lighting both inside and out. The large great room has almost an entire wall made of windows with a view of mountains that just takes your breath away. To be able to wake up above the clouds and watch the sunset over the mountains is almost heavenly. There are 3 bedrooms in the cabin. Two of the rooms are HUGE Master suites. The third bedroom has a pair of bunk beds with double beds on the bottom and twins on top. Our group had 8 people, all 18 or older, and we slept very comfortably. On a normal day, my family is as distracted by our phones as the next, but the owners of this home have done a wonderful job providing a number of options to keep everyone entertained. There is a pool table, poker table, outdoor hot tub, board games, and a massive library of movies. When evening comes around and everyone is ready for bed, there are 4 brand new smart TVs spread throughout the house. We had no issues logging into our streaming accounts and watching our favorites shows. Lastly, the location has the best of both worlds. By that I mean it has the perfect mix of seclusion as well as options for activities. Our family spent time in Sylva and Dillsboro, which are both 10 minutes from the cabin. Each town has its own collection of shops, breweries, and restaurants. I can’t decide which I enjoyed more! We also spent part of one day skiing at Cataloochee Ski Resort, which is about 45 minutes away. The resort has all levels of skiing as well as a lodge for spectators. On the way back from skiing, we stopped in Waynesville for some more shopping and food. I just can’t say enough how much we appreciate the owners making this cabin available to families like ours. It really gave us the chance to get away and connect at the same time. We will definitely be back!!

The home is beautiful and the view is amazing The furniture is in need of repair or replacement. The kitchen appliances are in need of an update. The road to the home is steep and one lane very treacherous.

the cabin is awesome, clean, spacious, quiet , very good conditions, special for a vacation with a family, recommend to every ones
William N. Nov 2021
The cabin was located in a beautiful location with great views. There was plenty of room in the cabin and had everything needed for an enjoyable stay. There were nice shopping and eating locations near in the town. I will definitely come again.
Kendell D. Oct 2021
If you are looking to get away you have come to the right place.
It’s under new ownership now and once they get some things in the house fixed it will be a 5 star vacation home!
Manager response:
Hi, Kendell! We're thrilled to read you enjoyed your stay and are excited to work with the new homeowners on updating this home. New furnishings will be put in place during November. Extra cleaning is being performed in the meantime to help spruce everything up. We hope you'll come back to see the improvements!

Mountain Heritage Lodge is located in a nice gated community and is easy to get to. It is convenient to the attractions in the area and it has a nice view of the distant mountains through the trees from the back deck. The beds are comfortable and we enjoyed the gas fire pit on the lower deck and the gas grill on the main deck. The bathrooms are well stocked with soap, shampoo, lotion and linens. The kitchen is well equipped with soap, paper towels and cooking utensils. There is no doubt that at one time this was a super nice cabin. But not today.
This cabin is up for sale and it is quite obvious it has been neglected for a long time. The furniture, both inside and outside on the deck is old, worn-out and ragged in some cases. There are holes in the arm of the chair in the living room and the back cushion on the sofa downstairs is ripped from one side to the other. The pool table was dirty and had to be swept before we could use it. Of the five or six pool ques, only two had tips on them that could be used. Overall, the place was dirty. We were disappointed in the condition of this cabin. There was dust built up on the furniture and fixtures with cobwebs in the windows and on the hanging light fixtures. The top of the stove had to be cleaned before we could use it. The ice maker in the refrigerator was completely frozen up and would not dispense ice. It was so frozen that the release button on the ice bin would not work. I personally worked with the ice maker until I could get it released, took the bin out, cleaned all the old ice out, cleaned out the chute and now the ice maker is fully operational. Previous reviews have indicated an issue with the water supply with this cabin and apparently that is the case as evidenced by the statement posted on the refrigerator door as to when to shower, run the dishwasher and the washing machine. We were a party of four, followed the instructions and did not have any problems with the water. Possibly an issue with a larger party. Lighting is poor in the bedroom and bathrooms. In the bathroom upstairs, there are two light fixtures above the double vanity. Each fixture has three lights and five of the six lights were out. Similar situation in the bathroom on the main floor. Several lights in the living room and kitchen weren't working. There are no instructions on how to operate the satellite TV's, or the hot tub. You are left to figure this out on your own. There were no cushions on the worn-out deck furniture. The cushions were all in a storage box on the deck. When we took the cushions out there were holes in most and some were wet and musty smelling. There were also spider webs all over the railing on the deck. You get the picture. This is not a good value for what is costs. I gave this cabin a generous rating of three stars based on the conditions we experienced while staying at Mountain Heritage Lodge.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, William. We are sorry to read you were unhappy with your experience. The burnt out bulbs have been replaced, and we have patched the holes on the furnishings. Please know that this home is now under new ownership and we are happy to report that there will be many upgrades and improvements coming soon! We invite you to visit again and enjoy all that this home truly has to offer.

Love the seclusion with lots of trees and beautiful view of the nearby mountain peaks.
jeremie c. Jun 2021
Beautiful cabin, could use a couple of updates but well maintained and a million dollar view! Internet was non-existent (yes, connected to the WIFI) so slow it was unusable.
Manager response:
Hi, Jeremie! Thank you for staying with us. The satellite type internet is not the fastest, but we have verified it is working. We hope to see you again!

Peacefull and beautiful
Lea-Ann B. May 2021
The cabin was beautiful and clean. We truly enjoyed our weekend stay there.

Only negatives (not complaints) was the outdoor cushions were wet and moldy even though they were stored in large tubs. I understand completely that this cannot be helped due to the dampness on the mountain. The other issue is the internet did not work, (again not a complaint, the cabin is off the grid). Overall we had a great weekend in a beautiful cabin and location! We will be back!
Patricia P. Apr 2021
We could not have picked a more perfect place. The view was beautiful. The house met all our needs and then some. I would highly recommend this home for a quiet getaway and comfortable stay.
Calvin R. Mar 2021
The cabin was magical! Yes, there was a cobweb in one of the windows with a gorgeous view, about 50 feet up; and yes, there were small tears in the comfortable couch downstairs; and yes, there were some worn tips on some of the que sticks for the BILLIARDS TABLE 😲
We are not that finicky, though... my family and I would love to stay (or live) here, anytime!
Freddy R. Dec 2020
This a beautiful home, however the owner has neglected the property. The furniture were ripped, chairs were broken. The bedding had blood stains, mattresses were stained, showers had mold, ceiling fans were dirty, stove had food and grease, kitchen cabinets were dirty along with the refrigerator. The property needs a thorough cleaning.
Manager response:
Hi Freddy. Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that the home was in this condition upon your arrival as it is never our intention to disappoint. We have passed your comments along to the the local staff and homeowners so that we can get these details taken care of. We do hope that we have another chance in the future to impress you!
Richard W. Nov 2020
We had everything we needed to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner and more. The town of Sylvia, NC is conveniently nearby, and you can find anything you need there.
James A. Nov 2020
Roomy cabin with three bedroom that can sleep 4 adults in the king beds and 5 kids in the double bunk beds and pullout couch.
The view is outstanding. The hot tub is nice as well. On the downside the pool table is nice if only the pool sticks had tips on them. There is no wood burning anything, no fire pit and no wood burning fire place even though it’s advertised as having these amenities.
Manager response:
James, thank you so much for your feedback. We apologize for any confusion. The home is listed as having a gas fireplace, there are, in fact, no wood-burning fireplaces. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in our beautiful home and we hope to get to host you again!
Christina B. Oct 2020
Perfect view my family and I absolutely loved it.
Joshua S. Oct 2020
The cabin was beautiful and in a great location. It had beautiful views all around. Master bedroom was very spacious. Great game room downstairs.
Donna F. Aug 2020
Our 1 week stay in this cabin was less than stellar. It is a beautiful, well built cabin but the cleanliness was not up to par for normal, everyday clean much less during a pandemic. There were cobwebs in window sills, even in the low windows. Bathrooms were not clean, smudged glass and hairs in showers and tubs. We attempted to clean some ourselves but could find no general cleaning supplies as was stated there should be. We purchased our own all purpose cleaning spray, paper towels and toilet paper.

We quickly noticed the cover of the hot tub had been left off and there was leaves and sticks inside and the water was green. We called the host about another issue and told them this and that my sister located the chemicals and shocked it herself. We were told by the host that is what they would have recommended we do anyway.

There were 4 trashcans to put trash, however all 4 were jam packed when we arrived Saturday. We emailed the host and got no response on Saturday. Sunday we called the host and informed them of the trash situation, we had bags of trash sitting in the kitchen for 2 days until they came and picked it up Tuesday afternoon.

There were 4 washcloths in the whole cabin. When we mentioned this when we called the host we were told it isn't a hotel and towels are guaranteed but not washcloths. So we went and purchased our own washcloths, loofahs and some extra towels.

The fire pit on the balcony was inoperable. The propane tank was pulled out of it and empty.

A lot of the dining room chairs were rickety and half broken.

We were not prepared to have to do so much "work" on vacation, especially for the price we paid for the week. We will not be booking this cabin again or any other rental run by Vacasa.
Manager response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, Donna. We apologize that your experience in our home was not the vacation for which you had planned and for which we strive to provide our guests. Thank you for bringing the cleaning and maintenance deficiencies to our attention so we can address them appropriately. We have added more linens and terry to the home to make sure there are enough towels, blankets, washcloths, and hand towels for our guests. We have retrained our housekeeping staff to make sure they know how to properly clean the homes since the pandemic, and stock our homes with an initial supply of toiletries, paper products, and detergents. While trash pickup is once a week, our Vacasa staff is always available to assist guests with overflowing trash and arrange an additional pickup. Our maintenance team will check the outdoor firepit and dining room chairs. Thank you!
Amy L. Aug 2020
Beautiful home, plenty of space for 3 families (10 people total). Not very clean (2 bathrooms and the floor on the main level had dirt swept up in a pile that I guess they forgot to get up. Sheets on one bed were very rough. All other beds were great. Porch is amazing for views but furniture cushions are moldy. We used our own camp chairs.

Never had any problems with water usage.

Would stay here again with the expectation that we would need to “spruce up” the cleaning upon arrival.
Manager response:
We sincerely apologize for the housekeeping oversight. Please do not hesitate to call so we can correct these things for you. Thanks, Amy!
Tamasa P. Jun 2020
Beautiful and very secluded. The only thing that I could say is that u really have to use the water sparingly cause the well will run dry.
Mohamed A. Jun 2020
Beautiful accommodating cabin... one of the best vacations we ever had !!!
David S. Jun 2020
We just returned from staying here for a week, the house is very nice and had more than enough room for our party of 10. The kitchen had anything you could need to cook and the outdoor grill was also nice. The only complaint was that you have to be conservative with water usage. It was only a problem on our first day because the caretaker drained and refilled the hot tube which depleted the water tank and we had no water the first night. The hot tube must have a leak in it because we had to turn it off four days in due to low water volume. With all that said I would definitely return and the house is in a great location to visit Asheville or Gatlinburg.
Leah T. Jun 2020
Place is great. In an awesome location with amazing views. The house is a bit more warn than the photo's show. The outdoor fire place wasn't working, and the hot tub was a bit dirty. Overall, we had an amazing stay! Would absolutely recommend for a group or family stay!
Manager response:
Thank you for your feedback, Leah. We are pleased you had a nice stay at this well-located home. We apologize for the issues with the outdoor fireplace and hot tub, and for any inconvenience you experienced. We have passed your comments along to our local manager who will address the issues and ensure the amenities are in order. We look forward to hosting you again!
Kelsey A. Feb 2020
The cabin was even more beautiful than the pictures. The owners have everything stocked and ready for your stay. It was such a perfect place to stay for the weekend. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back!

This was the perfect home to spend our Christmas family getaway! Beautiful home and amazing views! So close to Bryson City and Waynesville makes this cabin a must stay! So much fun and so nice! We will definitely stay here again!
SUSAN P M. Dec 2019
We met family from multiple states for a wonderful family getaway. The cabin was beautifully decorated for Christmas when we arrived. We would definitely stay again.
Terry V. Nov 2019
This was a great home for our large family that attended a local wedding in Sylva! Beds were comfy and we enjoyed using the hot tub, pool table and both fireplaces throughout our stay. Easy to get to places and the Dillsboro and Sylva downtowns were just 4 mi away! Be sure to try the great cheesteaks at SOUTH OF PHILLY! There is also a super Walmart and 24 hr Dunkin Donuts! We would certainly come back. I would give 5 stars however, for the price charged for the cleaning fee- we would've expected the glass to be sparkling on the beautiful windows which are the focal point to this gorgeous home. The upper windows you could tell had not been touch in quite some time- they were dusty and had a film of dirt on them. The doors that lead outside had so many hand and finger prints. I know if this was my mountain home, I would want it to be sparkling. My sister in law had to wash her sheets from the main floor bedroom because she found hairs, questioning whether or not they had been washed from the guest before. I also found hairs on the tile floor in the upper shower. Seems the rug in that bedroom needs vacuuming as well. Some of the oven controls did not work, like the exhaust fan. All in all we enjoyed our stay and hope these comments are accepted as an honest feedback.
Manager response:
Hi, Terry! We have cleaned the windows, cleaned the rugs, and taken care of the bad oven controls. We hope to see you again!
Lee O. Oct 2019
We've rented all over western NC, north GA, and Tenn for over 15 years. This is home has what we look for - beautiful views, no other homes in view, clean, nice furnishings, all paved access for our sports car, etc. The management was great to work with, It was a pleasure, I always spend way to much time looking at rentals to decide on for our annual fall mountain trip and it was well worth it finding this home.
Chad T. Jun 2019
If you like seclusion, this place is for you. Plenty of things to do for the kids. Safe gated entrance up a STEEP incline that is paved. Only drawbacks are that the grill is rusted out, the oven fan for convection is shot, and dryer takes a couple of cycles to dry. (The vent had blown off the back and lint from previous renters was everywhere. It was an easy fix). Overall, those minor things did not affect an outstanding stay.
Manager response:
We are delighted to read you enjoyed your stay, Chad! Thank you for making us aware of these issues; maintenance has been scheduled to handle them right away. We hope to see you again!
