Long weekend in the mountains with family and enjoyed the house. Easy access to the river and a nice view in the living room/screen porch and the yard. House could use a little TLC but overall a good experience.

We slept 12 guys for a golf trip in this house and it never once felt cramped at all. This house is set up perfectly and is great for all kinds of trips, whether a large family trip or a friends trip of any kind. The only reason this review is not 5 stars is that it seems the cleaning company forgot to come before our stay because none of the sheets or towels were cleaned and all of the trash cans were still full from the previous stay. But other than that, this house was fantastic.

Wonderful stay. Cleaned thoroughly. Perfect place to spread out with a larger group.

Beautiful home. The only challenge was poor wifi connectivity. Otherwise, this house has a gorgeous kitchen and great space for a Smoky Mountain getaway.
Hi, Elizabeth! We are delighted you enjoyed your visit. WiFi is generally spotty in the mountains; we apologize if it disrupted your stay in any way. Hopefully we can host you again!

Scenic views of the Tuckasegee River below and the Smokey Mountains that surround the home. The Smokey Mountain Railroad, from nearby Bryson City, passes in front of the home on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the summer season.

Great family place

Absolutely beautiful home and gorgeous views of the river. Plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained while the adults relaxed. We didn't want to leave! Basketball hoop (bring your own ball), playroom alcove, ping pong, firepit, etc. Lots of room for 2 families to spread out. Amazing big kitchen!
One of our only complaints is that the hot water heater didn't really work. My sister in law tried to enjoy the big master tub but it only filled up with 2 inches of hot water before it shut off. The kids all had to take 60 second showers before we lost water (it strangely would turn off altogether).
Hi, Megan! We are sorry to read you had any problems with the hot water. We have been unable to replicate the issue but will keep an eye on it. Thank you for staying with us!

The house was wonderful. We loved Martin next door.

The reason this property was given 4 instead of 5 is that pictures are a little outdated. For example, the carpet in the master bedroom is full of stains and has a rug on top to cover some of the stains. In another bedroom, the pictures show wall lamps on either side of the bed, but in reality there are no bulbs or lamp shades, and they are unplugged behind the headboard. Overall, it looks like this property was beat up by renters, but besides that, it was great.
- Amazing views from multiple rooms in the house.
- The kitchen has everything you'd ever want with great, huge appliances. Very nice cookware.
- Huge wash and dryer.
- Great mud room entryway.
- Easy downhill walk to the river, where there's a picnic table.
- Good location - near maybe parks and hikes.
- Don't expect any firm chairs. Every soft chair has been thoroughly used and feels like bean bag. The dinning room table chairs look great, but have no stuffing left and leave you wishing you had a booster seat.
- A lot of things are in need of refresh: the seal on the refrigerator/freezer is coming off, the light switches are missing pieces, some walls and carpets are dirty, light bulbs are out, lots of dead lady-bugs in the upstairs shower light.
- The wifi is DSL and is stops working when you run the microwave. Working from this location is possible, be prepared for slow connection.
Animal in the attic
- A couple of nights we heard an animal in the attack above the master bedroom. We informed the management company, and hopefully they let the owners know.
- The road to the house is a little scary for anyone not use to mountain roads. It's generally only big enough for one car, and there are mirrors on tree to help you see around corners.
We appreciate your feedback, Jacqueline, and are so glad you stayed with us. The homeowner does plan on shutting the home down for a time to address some repairs such as the carpet and appliances. The internet in the mountains is spotty at times. The home is scheduled for a deep clean, and the squirrel in the attic space has been removed. Thank you!

Plenty of room to enjoy a large group of people. Sitting outside listening to the river was great.

We had the most memorable vacation and loved the time we had in this home very much. The house is clean and just beautiful, I love the way it was built. It fit our group of 8 perfectly. We had a couple of plumbing issues but luckily my husband can pretty much fix anything and he is a Master Plumber so he fixed the clog in the Master Shower and he did what he could to fix the shower head upstairs to allow more water pressure, he needed some Teflon tape...but he was able to get it working a lot better then it was. These were our only issues. We loved it I MEAN really loved this home. It has me dreaming of moving into a place like this! I honestly can not stop thinking about this home! I really loved it so much!

The house is beautiful as is the property! We had a fantastic time. It’s location is great and central to many popular places to visit.

Extremely nice home. We had a group of kids who loved fishing at the river. It is a little hike to get down there. We caught 2 brown trout at the property and then explored some other fishing near by. The kids also found 2 turtles under some of the ripe fruit trees. They also loved the cubbie beds, ping pong table, and bed swing on the front porch. Nice kitchen set up. Some of us drove to Cherokee one day and explored soco falls and mingo falls. It was just a great time with friends and family. The price for what is included with this property is great. We all had 4 wheel drive vehicles with no problem getting to the house.

My family visited in early October and the view from the home was beautiful. We enjoyed visiting the river and the view from inside of the home.

We had a great time and enjoyed our trip to North Carolina. The house was plenty big and had plenty of things to do to support any down time we would have had. My rating is tempered by the fact that the house and grounds needs some attention. In the kitchen, lighting over the stove is out, the dishwasher lower rack is missing wheels and it is a wonder that the dishes don't break when the rack is pulled out. Also, the skillets need to be replaced.
Hi Jeff, thank you for staying with us. We are so sorry for the details that were amiss during your visit. We will ensure that all areas of concern are addressed appropriately. We hope you'll allow us another opportunity to host you.

We spend a week whitewater rafting in western NC every year. This is the first time we have had any significant problems with a vacation rental. When we arrived, the A/C upstairs was not working; it was 90+ degrees. The whole unit was frozen over; the filters were very dirty and not allowing any air circulation. We turned the unit off completely so it would de-ice and not burn out. A repairman came the next afternoon and was able to get it running again and replaced the filters. The second issue: the water pump was not functioning properly, which the management team was aware of prior to our arrival. They were to send a plumber out on Wednesday during our stay. The pump ran constantly; very loud at night. We were in master and had very little water pressure. If anyone was using water somewhere in house, we could not shower or flush our toilet. The third issue was the refrigerator stopped cooling on Monday; we tried resetting it and leaving it shut overnight, but it never cooled above 50-55 degrees; not cold enough to safely store food. Luckily, there were two mini refrigerators which we could move our food into. Both the plumber and appliance repairmen were to come out on Wednesday morning. Only the appliance guy showed up, but he was unable to fix the frig. The plumber did not show and when we inquired about when someone might be coming out, we got no response. On Friday, the plumbers showed up unannounced while my wife was home alone and in the shower. My wife said they were very apologetic and very nice but were unable to fix the water pump as it required replacement. We checked out the next morning, so we cannot speak as to whether or not the water pump or refrigerator problems were resolved. Had there not been those issues, the house itself is great with lovely interior that is well represented in photos.
Please note, the river access from the house is not easy. There are very steep, loose railroad ties to climb down in front of the house, with railroad tracks to cross, then a four foot drop down the steep river bank. There is an alternate path to river across the side lawn, down a winding path that also requires crossing railroad tracks. The river bank there is not quite as steep, but still it is not easy getting into river. We were not expecting the river access to be that difficult and probably would not recommend for the elderly or small children.
Hi, Douglas! We appreciate your input and are sorry to read you had any problems with your rental. The air conditioner and fridge were fixed during your stay and have been working great since that time. The home will be shut down for a month this winter during which time we will address your other concerns while handling general work around the home. Thank you!

Loved the big kitchen, all the beds were comfortable and the porches were nice. The location with the train and the road so close wasn’t the most ideal, but it wasn’t too noisy though you could hear the road and the train went through a few times on our short 5 day stay. Loved the Christian decorations and framed scripture. The porch swing bed cover did not look like it had been cleaned or replaced as it had bird droppings on it but that was a product of the cleaning staff not the house itself. We loved the big picture window and the bb court. Would be nice for photos of the bb goal to be included for families. We bought a bb once we got there but would have brought one along had we known. Just absolutely lovely place. Thank you for letting us stay there. The 4 instead of 5 is just because of the road, train and porch bed cover bring soiled. Otherwise, would have given a perfect score. Worth the money to stay!
Thank you for choosing to stay with Vacasa! We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We apologize for the house not being cleaned as thoroughly as is our standard. Please know that local staff is available to assist with any cleanliness issues you encounter while in the home. We hope to get the chance to host you again! Thank you.

We had a wonderful time at this house! Very spacious and beautifully situated on the river. We had a small glitch with the refrigerator not staying cold, but we contacted Vacasa and the property manager promptly came out and fixed it! Only complaints are the polyester sheets in one of the room upstairs that we couldn’t switch out because there weren’t any extra linens anywhere and the basement smelled really really musty, making it hard to sleep down there. We also thought that the cleaning service could have done a better job at cleaning the upstairs area. The downstairs common areas were spotless, but there were other parts of the house that were dusty/not been cleaned well.
We did two tubing trips from the house, launching from there. We parked some cars past the bridge at a public boat launch and we’re able to easily get off the river and drive back to the house with our tubes. Really enjoyed this home, very beautiful and quiet, the perfect getaway. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Thank you for your review, Garrett. We will inform the local manager about the musty smell in the basement. We hope to host you again soon!

Great interior, exterior, parking, scenery, view... I could go on and on. It was plenty big enough for our group of 9. I think we'll all cherish the time we spent here for a long time.

House was beautiful the scenery the river and also the class of turkeys doing there morning walks

We had a wonderful time at the River of Dreams Cabin. The scenery was beautiful as well as the cabin. We can’t wait to come back in the spring.
If you are worried about the train, no worries. We saw the train go by twice and it was really quite for being so close.
I did not have 4 wheel drive and there was only rain but the road to the cabin was not bad. There was approximately 20 feet of the road that had pot holes and had gravel filling them. I would have trouble with traction in those spots since the gravel was loose but other wise better than I expected.

When waking into this house it is much bigger than pictured. We loved the layout, plenty of room for everyone. Great views! We had such a great time. 3 families coming together. Few minor things needing fixed such as light bulbs and kitchen supplies but we made due and had a great time! We had no issues with the road getting to and from main roads.

We had a wonderful time at the beautiful River of Dreams. We had 5 adults and 5 children and it was perfect for all. The house was big enough and very comfortable and the children could play outside and we felt very safe. It was close to the Polar Express and the Gem Mines and walking trails. It was a perfect fit for us.

4 generations under one roof. Everyone found a space to call their own-- The play room upstairs for the littles, the front porch and rocking chairs for the reflective types, the ping pong table for the active and THAT KITCHEN for the creative ones. River of Dreams gave us all exactly what we were looking for and needed in our family vacation.
We were close enough to enjoy a trip on the Polar Express, contribute a little money to the Casino in Cherokee, retail therapy at the Outlet Mall in Asheville and tour a fully decorated Biltmore House.
We had 1 minor event that merited a few phone calls back and forth with Property management but I will say that everything was handled quickly and efficiently. The only thing that our family was surprised not to find was a few extra blankets.
Loved it and hope to return again!

My group (4 adults, 8 children) really enjoyed staying at the "River of Dreams" home. The home was true to the pictures on the vrbo site and was very clean. We really enjoyed all the natural light and views from the beautiful windows all throughout the home. Some sections of the gravel road up to the home were severly poor in spots, but passable with a good vehicle and driver. We would definitely recommend this home and will look into to staying here again!

I really cant say enough good things about the house and property. The kitchen is amazing and has everything you need to make great meals at the house. The house is clean and decorated perfectly. The bedrooms are separate and provide plenty of space when coming with a big family. We ordered water tubes from Amazon and floated everyday on the Tuckasegee River that's right on property. We would float until we got to the walk over bridge and someone would stay back and pick us up in a truck afterwards. On property they have a rope swing and playground as well. The owners couldn't have built and maintained a better home for large families. Were hoping to come back every year.

I've probably stayed in 10+ cabins in the area over the last 5 years (used a few different rental companies). When choosing a property I always use the internet and hope the pictures, reviews, and description are accurate. This property was better than expected. The owners thought of every little detail and the reservation process was a breeze. This was my 9 year old daughter’s first mountain cabin stay and she is now converted! Around day 2, she said, "Mommy we're coming back here! This is the best vacation ever”. Thanks for making our stay memorable.
