From Breckenridge to Keystone to Lake Dillon, Summit County holds some of Colorado’s greatest treasures. Deciding where to stay can get a bit overwhelming, so we’ve broken down the hottest spots in the county (and one of our favorite rental homes in each place). Ready for your Rocky Mountain retreat? Read on!
Lifts, restaurants, ski shops, and more: it’s all a part of the Keystone resort area. Many Colorado travelers consider Keystone the main attraction of Summit County. A condo rental in Keystone provides the total ski resort experience, whether or not you’re staying in the actual Keystone resort. This ski condo in the heart of the River Run Village is the quintessential Keystone rental, with shops, dining, and a ski lift all within walking distance.
Nestled in Summit County’s southeastern corner is Copper Mountain, a resort town at the foot of some of Colorado’s most beloved ski slopes. Mountain sports reign supreme here, from skiing to snowboarding to sledding. Spend an afternoon off the mountain at the Woodward Copper sports facility, which features skate parks, foam pits, and other activities for all ages.
Breckenridge’s attractions are as diverse and vibrant as its seasons. The whole family will find something to love here, and it’s the ideal Summit County destination for those who might not want to ski or snowboard (although Breckenridge’s slopes are some of the best in the state). The colorful main street has plenty of shopping and dining, including some time-tested pizza joints like Downstairs at Eric’s. The kids will love splashing in the river at the town center, and the Alpine Slide provides a summer adrenaline fix.
A Frisco rental is your ideal choice for Summit County lodging with an emphasis on the outdoors. While Frisco is certainly a great home base for skiing, its other adventure opportunities are what sets it apart. Whether you’re hoping to do some hiking, sledding, tubing, dirt biking, Nordic skiing, or paddle boarding, you’ll find it in Frisco (depending on the season, of course). Frisco’s cute town center is a real gem, too.
A mountain retreat in Dillon gives you near-immediate access to one of the most beautiful lakes in America. The Dillon Reservoir, a man-made lake in the middle of the Rockies, is a world-renowned sailing destination. Book a cruise on its glassy waters, or take a lesson at the Dillon Marina and learn how to take the helm yourself. A Dillon rental is perfect for anyone who wants time on the water to be a key component of their Summit County getaway.
Right around the corner from Dillon, this town offers the best of neighborhood life within easy driving (or even walking) distance of the reservoir. It’s also a short drive or shuttle ride away from Summit County’s ski slopes, and a Silverthorne retreat can be a more economical choice for skiing than a resort rental. The town’s famous outlets draw shoppers from far and wide, offering steep discounts on brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Columbia.
This residential area is a popular destination for those who want to enjoy Keystone’s attractions from the comfort of a rental house. Summit Cove also attracts golfers with its beautiful Keystone Ranch and River courses. Book your mountain retreat at Summit Cove and enjoy laid-back, golf-friendly Keystone lodging.
