Chartered in 1761 and originally known as Harwich (though this was eventually changed to avoid confusion with the similarly named town of Hardwick), Mount Tabor is a bucolic little burg located in the foothills of the Green Mountain National Forest near the New York State border.
Stay in one of our vacation rentals in this charming small town to recharge among the trees, or enjoy world-class skiing at the nearby ski resorts during the winter months.
Mount Tabor is only 18 miles east of the New York State border, and 18 miles due south of Rutland, the third-largest city in Vermont and home of the Norman Rockwell Museum, the beautiful Chaffee Art Center, and over 100 buildings currently listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
When you're surrounded by thousands of acres of pristine forests and breathtaking mountain vistas, there's no end to the outdoor adventures. You'll enjoy hiking the trails through the Green Mountain National Forest, watching the explosion of colors with the arrival of autumn, and exploring Emerald Lake State Park just five miles south, where you can swim, fish for perch, bass, and northern pike, or enjoy a serene, lakeside picnic.
And when the snow starts to fall, you're close to three world-class ski resorts including Bromley Mountain just 20 miles south, Stratton Mountain, nine miles past that, and Okemo Mountain 27 miles east.
While you'll likely spend most of your time enjoying the great outdoors around Mount Tabor, you can always take the family up to the Otter Creek Fun Center to play an 18-hole miniature golf course and light up the flashing screens of the arcade.
Or, take a short, 13-mile drive south to find plenty of dining and shopping in the beautiful and historic walking village of Manchester, including the Manchester Designer Outlets and the Equinox Square Shopping Center.
Whatever the reason for your next Mount Tabor vacation, you're sure to enjoy the peace and quiet from inside one of our cozy vacation rentals.
