Things to do in Makaha

Makaha's portion of Oahu's coast is a magical glimpse into a surfer's paradise. Surrounded by verdant jungle and age-old volcanoes, this resort town is an ideal escape from the everyday. Reserve your stay in one of our Makaha vacation rentals to experience it for yourself!

Beyond Waikiki: Makaha's Waves

Makaha sits at the foot of Mt. Ka'ala, about 35 miles from Honolulu. This beach-centric area contains less than 10,000 permanent residents, but plenty of vacation rental opportunities for visitors.

Many seek solace from the Waikiki and Honolulu crowds on Makaha's calm shores, some of the northernmost on Oahu's leeward side. Kahuku's pristine beach is about 55 miles across the island - perfect for a scenic day trip.

Surfing, Sunbathing, and More in Makaha

Expert surfers can ride some of the world's best waves at Makaha Beach Park, but the area has something to offer eager visitors of almost any level. Beginner surfers may want to take a lesson or two before diving in here.

Of course, many visitors can enjoy Makaha without ever climbing onto a surfboard. The crystal water welcomes swimmers and divers during the summer when the surf is low. Bring a beach chair and a book out to the warm sand, and it's easy to spend the whole day simply lounging by the waves.

Guests at our Makaha vacation rentals can easily access groceries, gas, and other necessities during their stay in this small town. Local classics Like Spinners Cafe serve up Hawaiian home cooking, while there's no shortage of excellent seafood at diners like Da Crawfish and Crab Shack.

The Hawaiian Islands have something to offer any variety of beach lover - reserve one of our Makaha vacation condos for the tropical escape you deserve!
